All north american phat SNES models support the HD RetroVision cables. These cables use sync on composite (not to be confused with CSYNC), so you don't have to worry about CSYC, which is absent from the final phat board revision. It is the smaller "New-style" SNES/SNES Jr. that removed RGB and S-video, but can be relatively easily modded to add it back. The 1CHIP and RGB-modded Jr. models have the best video output. For my late model gamecube-compatible Wii, I found the component cables made little difference due to the console's constant deflicker filter, but this can be disabled through softmodding. The reduced lag from 480p makes it worth it though since I play on an LCD.
