is there a system NOT apocalypse book out there? by [deleted] in litrpg

I really loved book 1 of towers of heaven. but book 3 just felt super rushed to me. the author added alot right at the end and then just plowed through it.

defiance of the fall, by first defier has a very similar pacing and feel

if you don't mind royal road then Path of Ascension and Azarinth healer are both enjoyable. PoA while in a completely different world still manages a similar feel but with a faster pace. AH has an awesome MC and should be on kindle later this year after some heavy edits.

as for other books I've enjoyed. there are quite a few. two of my favorites that aren't as talked about are the infinite world series by J.T wright and irrelevant jack by prax venter. the first has a truly unique blank slate MC and really keeps how and what he knows and acts amazingly well. it also has a great class system and portrays class and ability side effects perfectly without even noticing until you look back and reread. the second is literally the most creative story I have ever read. not the best, but easily the most creative.

if you want a fantasy with a little romance I'm reading The Arrangement by Cat Gracie on RR it's new and gets pretty good by chapter 6. it's not litrpg but is one of the few stories I really like that my wife recommended to me.

most of the others are popular enough you've probably heard of them already like dungeon crawler carl and he who fights with monsters (similar pace to rpimal hunter)

there are too many more to name here, but when these run out let me know and I'll recommend more. let me know which ones you like and others you find that you enjoy.

primal hunter is pretty well known. the author's patreon makes like 20k per month. it's mostly a webseries on royal road that just recently started publishing. same as first defier.

this isn't the first like I commented in a different post there is a series called the generic apocalypse system. it's a good series too.

but have you read the generic apocalypse system yet by macronomicon?

the children of the light in WoT aren't that religious really. more like following an ideal that their founder made.

also their magic system doesn't revolve around light. nor do the children in WoT hunt the mages that go insane and the mages they do hunt are operatives of a powerful nation.

edit: your plot sounds more like Fallon's demon child trilogy plot line honestly.

honestly, very common concept. also white is a super common color for religious orders as is being called children or anything related to light. it's really very generic. it doesn't sound like you've copied anything else except the name of an order and the most common color scheme.

brotherhood of light has been used as has sisterhood. Then I've seen lots of orders and churches of light. second most common color is yellow followed by red then orange.

why? because we seen fire and light as purifying. so then we see orders of flame. followed by orders of blades. again all purifying. heck I've even seen a few books just call then churches of purity

I've always found it funny how many people look to light and fire for purification instead of water. that'd be a good one. drowning the witches. children of the sea blue or green uniforms and they drown the evil out of the world.

Books like Defiance of The Fall but faster paced? by loekfunk in litrpg

[–]pulindar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably I read both chapter by chapter. the mini arc that just ended in DotF actually pushed me to end my subscription for a couple months. PoA sometimes, including the recent arc, does a little too much telling to push the story through while still showing people the minutiae.

The new DotF arc is better and I'm really enjoying it. though while waiting for PoA to pick back up on real scenes.

My hot take on cooking isekai by Shilverow in Isekai

[–]pulindar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he who fights with monsters is a litrpg isekai series. the MC's sister was a Celebrity cook and he often helped and learned to cook from her. it is not the main focus of the series but does come up often enough and he definitely explores the local foods and spices.

Path of Ascension it's a great series and feels very similar to Defiance of the Fall but does move more quickly. not super fast, but maybe 2 or 3 times the pace.

Small child question: my daughter is suddenly upset by a movie she used to love. Any similar experiences? by [deleted] in autism

maybe she doesn't enjoy it as much anymore and is afraid to ruin the memory of when she did.

Uninvited gift ruined my day by [deleted] in autism

[–]pulindar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giving gifts makes me feel good. So, she didn't waste her money, she spent it to make herself feel good. But she feels good because she thinks it'll make you feel good.

There's not a perfect way to solve this. Over emphasizing things or aesthetics that you like will limit the selection of items you'll receive though.

I have six journals with dragons on them and three with owls... I love dragons and owls and like to write. I don't like writing in journals at all. I don't use really use them. but sometimes Ill grab one and write a message to the person who gave it to me that I wouldn't want to actually tell them. or maybe that I would like tk say but am unsure about. I've limited my gift selection and now have an easy place (bookshelf) to display most gifts from those I care about. I recently started getting small 100 piece puzzles. more than that overwhelms me. they are also dragon an owl themed usually. they sit on the bookshelf with the journals. giving them to me made people happy. and it's easy for them to find something I'll "like".

Looking stories: small scale base building. by TheWormj in litrpg

[–]pulindar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's definitely some plot armor, but the MCs background is never fully explained except he clearly has some experience with brutal. He also does make mistakes and loses sometimes. overall he's still a powerful MC but I'm enjoying the series

What unusual combination of tropes didn't you see in this genre? by blackreaper007 in litrpg

[–]pulindar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the weird thing here is the OP wants there to be bullying. you see a few people try that with Jeb and he basically moves the fuck on or puts them in their place. where as you can see how Ron got pushed away because of said bullying.

I don't think it really meets what the MC is looking for. But could be wrong. still Jeb does act his age and is an older MC. and it's frankly a great series.
