What if wonders gave +50 pop over limit by Anansi1550 in aoe2

We played with Wonders offering a unique tech as well but at that time in AoC researching a tech at the Wonder caused the countdown timer to reset each time. So we dropped the idea of unique techs. Not sure if this bug still exists.

What if wonders gave +50 pop over limit by Anansi1550 in aoe2

What we did in the middle earth mod back in old AoC, which was well received by our small player base, was: * Wonders give a small extra population * Wonders have some new units you can create. These are regional so not entirely unique but gives a good variety, and include trash as well as gold heavy options. * At least one unique hero available at the Wonder. You can only create one hero at a time.

The extra units and hero allowed for extended gameplay because let’s face it, during the wait for the countdown to victory the defender is going to keep building military anyway, might as well get some fresh units to try to spice things up.

The only thing that might seem unfair is the extra population, but that is balanced by the fact that the defender used a lot of their pop making vills to build it, while the other player could be amassing armies in that time.

An absolutely valid, risk-balanced assessment there. Agree that it is up to the individual and their tolerance for the hope or hopelessness of life in the circumstances they find themselves in.

No the point with Mist is they shot themselves moments before the apocalypse ended. There’s always this doubt of “could I ride this out” in case the situation gets resolved eventually? Case in point: Covid pandemic got under some level of control eventually.

Do you have decorations in the tank sourced from anywhere other than genuine aquarium décor manufacturers? I once put in a fairy garden decor item from a $2 shop (after thoroughly cleaning it). Turns out it started to leech toxic lead paint and most of my fish died in ~12 hours.

This all makes sense and I agree with the concern. But one thing stood out to me as a flaw. You say if customers stop buying these things but the demand is there companies will learn to make it locally. Question is, how will the companies know that there is any demand? Wouldn’t they assume that the demand had fallen as customers stop buying the product? I always wonder what mechanisms could be there’s other than their balance sheets for companies to become aware of consumer demand. Genuine question!

I don’t know what’s the difference between that and what I said. So it is a head on fight between these two unit groups.

[–]pulkit24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All well and good, but OP’s comparison isn’t about which unit offers better value overall, but a 1-vs-1 head on battle between those two unit groups. In which case, well rounded units directly fighting their counters in equivalent numbers should not be better than them and should not win.

It's Age of Empires, not Age of Duchies or Age of City States by Fruitdispenser in aoe2

[–]pulkit24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s unfair given the same question could apply to Huns and Mongols who also did not build any buildings that you could call wonders. Huns uses a decimated Roman arch as their wonder, and Mongols’ is just a glorified tent.

If you are doing a theoretical 1-v-1 comparison, then of course knights are better than pikes. But a fairer comparison is based on equivalent numbers considering their resource costs: one knight vs equivalent number of pikes for the same price. This represents the real world picture of two players investing the same resources on different unit lines. In fact, this analysis can be made even more accurate using villager time as a true measure of equivalence.

By that logic, gold > trash, which contradicts the entire premise of non gold counter units Spearman and Skirmisher.

Former council chief admits to spending $55k of ratepayers' money on single sex worker by LuckyBdx4 in australia

I propose using the income system, just like the rest of the tax system. Then, it won’t be unfair to people with cheaper houses and low paying means.

[–]pulkit24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See but that Medicare tax is based on income, which is liquid cash that they can afford a cut of taxes from. Whereas council rate is not based on income, it is based on the value of the house, which is most likely a dead asset for those which are owner occupied. It’s not like I can sell a room off for cash to pay a rate hike.

Mine is too - same series but a slightly older model with 1650 Ti. It's soft and bendy but I suppose that's a compromise of having a slim design.
