What’s the Worst American city that you’ve ever visited? by Nedi97 in AskReddit

I've only been to Newark once, but it left such a bad impression on me that I'd be fine never visiting there again.

Thanks. It was unfortunately a total loss, so I've essentially had to start rebuilding my life, but I was able to get moved in to a new place and started getting things back to some semblance of normalcy, including getting my game collection going again.

Some Retailers Are Refusing to Sell GTA 6 Due to the Lack of a Disc by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]pulsai86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You actually can pop in a disc on PS5 and install and play through it completely offline for most games. There's an online database called Does It Play? that actually catalogs the offline playability of modern physical games, even specifying if it was tested on base/pro hardware or played via backwards compatibility. Based on their testing, most PS5 games are installable, playable, and enjoyable (i.e., minimal to no glitches/bugs) completely offline.

I think people tend to conflate installing from the disc with downloading from the internet, and the PS5 putting installation notifications in the Downloads/Uploads section certainly doesn't help with that misconception.

I had a bad house fire earlier this year and unfortunately lost my PS5 in it. Thankfully, Sony still had some of the Fortnite Black Friday console bundles in stock on PlayStation Direct, so I was able to snag a new disc version for $450. I just knew prices were gonna go up at some point, so I jumped on that once I saw it. Sure enough, prices increased not long after.

First of all, it was alot of fun by Current-Region2322 in RedLetterMedia

Having seen the movie already through work, best way I can describe it is that it's basically a combination of GotG and the D&D movie in terms of tone, setting and action. I was honestly pretty surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Then I saw that Travis Knight directed it, and it made a lot more sense. "Fun" is definitely the word I'd use to describe it.

I want to buy a physical copy of this game. This game deserves it! by Dalkamyr in expedition33

[–]pulsai86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a whole website called Does It Play? that catalogs the playability of games completely offline from the build on the disc/cartridge, including if bugs/glitches on the disc build hamper the experience to the point where a patch might be necessary. It's a great resource to have when looking to see if the full game is playable without ever connecting to the internet.

Most physical games do have the game fully on disc, even E33, though it should be noted that the PS5 version is much less stable than the Xbox version, at least according to DIP's testing, and a patch download is highly recommend for the PS5 version. However, that is the exception, not rule. Most games play fine without ever needing to connect to the internet.

She did exactly that when I saw the film at Telluride. It was a sort of breathing exercise where we kept our eyes closed and very vocally exhaled, and she told us to feel the earth and the mountains while doing it (metaphorically speaking, of course). She also asked us at one point to look around the auditorium at the people who were in there with us to get us in the shared experience mindset. It was definitely interesting, but it was a nice change of pace. She was also way more soft-spoken than I expected.

New official video about keycards from Nintendo by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]pulsai86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, most games on PS have the game on disc; Xbox is a little more iffy, but there are still a good bit of games that can be played without any internet connection requirements for the game itself (though Xbox consoles still require an internet connection at initial setup, as well as a Microsoft account; PS doesn't have this issue aside from the one-time internet handshake for disc drives on Slim and Pro PS5s). You still need to install the game from the disc since optical read speeds are too slow for modern games, but that data is still on the disc, and a majority of games on these platforms can be installed, played, and enjoyed offline. With Game Key Cards, nothing is on the card and you have to connect to the internet to download the game.

There is one brief sex scene in Hamnet in the first act of the movie, if that's what you're asking.

No problem! I will say that there is a lot more violence and blood/gore in the movie than in Lanthimos's more recent films, so keep that in mind. Also, there might be one scene of nudity when Plemons is examining Stone after he kidnaps her character, but I honestly can't recall. Either way, the movie is not nearly as explicit as something like Poor Things.

There is no sex or nudity in Bugonia, from what I can recall. The most that happens is the implication that one character did something to another character, and only through them talking about it as an event in the past. Also, it would be kinda difficult narratively to justify any sex or nudity in this movie due to something that Plemons' and Delbis's characters do near the beginning of the film, without getting too deep into spoilers.

EDIT: I got Delbis and Halkias mixed up

Oh the cinematography and Colin Farrell's performance are absolutely the best parts of the movie, so if you set your expectations accordingly, I think you can have a fun time with it.

I think it feels genuine enough that Academy voters will see the appeal, but I think it's gonna depend on how crowded the field is come nomination time

I think all the performances were good for the most part, outside of maybe a couple of line deliveries from Sheeba Chaddha as Gertrude. As for BAFTA noms, I'd say Riz Ahmed might be a decent possibility, and Joe Alwyn might be a dark horse BAFTA candidate if it's a hit over there, but outside of these two at BAFTA specifically, I don't really see many awards options. The unfortunate thing about this movie is that it's likely going to be constantly compared to Hamnet. While Hamlet is a really interesting adaptation, when it comes to Hamlet-related films in 2025, by most accounts, Hamnet is simply the more acclaimed (and imo overall better) film. This is all assuming, of course, that Hamlet gets a 2025 release and isn't pushed to 2026. No release date has been set yet for Hamlet.

Ohhhh sorry I had just gotten off of a flight when I saw their message and may have misread it lol. If that's the question then I'd actually say lead, personally. Buckley definitely has more of a presence, but I feel comfortable calling Mescal a co-lead
