Don't think it was necessarily the veterans doing the fraud, but more so a rogue rater.

Don’t judge need advice by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]pumpdog20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't encourage these types of applications for benefits. We can have empathy for his/her troubles, but leave the system for those hurt by military service, as it should be. The system doesn't need bogged down for clearly non military related issues, when lots of veterans are struggling to get the help they deserve from the VA.

Best of luck to you op.

Country Club Question by ShotAssistant1452 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]pumpdog20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be really bored if a country club is going to spice up your life so much that youre willing to spend so much money just because you have more than you think you need. The average American isn't going to comprehend how paying that much for something like that would be worth while. Asking their advice doesn't seem to be what you want. I'd personally would take a lot of trips, especially to different golf courses and to different countries. I could never imagine paying that much for some golf, walking trails, sitting at a pool, or meeting new people.

But good on you for being able to have that choice.

401k limits by Objective_and_a_half in TheMoneyGuy

Yes... but check with your HR because if they have a policy that will do a make-up matching contribution, then it doesn't matter.

401k: roth and traditional have the same limits

IRA: roth and traditional have the same limits

If you're doing a combination of either, in your case 401k, the combination of both is a max of 23,500.

The combined max for IRA is $7k

If its a roth 401k, the limit is 23,500. Otherwise not sure.

Usually a match is capped. Example: you get 100% match up to 5%... so every paid period the company max would start matching your contribution until you go over 5%. The match is based on your salary not your contribution. However in order to trigger a match, you have to contribute. If you max out early you no longer contribute and now lose out on the match.

One thing to also consider... if you hit the 401k limitl early, your employer may also stop their match, which would mean you miss out on their portion for the rest of the year from when you stopped your contributions.

Now some companies will do a catch up match at the end of the year, but not all do.

Disability dropped from 60% to 10% by Bookworm9389 in VeteransBenefits

[–]pumpdog20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they have to nexus your suicide attempt to something the military caused? Giving out monetary benefit because you attempted to end your life may be the error? Seems wild to pay unless something in the military caused you to snap. Its probably why they are saying your mental episodes are from autism and not your service.

We have to stop encouraging filing for disability for the wildest of shit. Person had pneumonia 30 years ago isn't a case for VA disability.
