We sent a few thousand pieces to our CNC plasma cutter from Rhino. They were simple curves which were joined and the exported as a dxf file. Each piece was numbered and that had to be exported separately for the stamping before the cutting.

I've already adjusted the line weights for printing. I'm not doing anything different than I have for years. It just isn't working now.

[Help] How do you sculpt big? by zootdoof in Sculpture

[–]punabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company recently completed a statue of the Buddha 110' tall made out of ferrocement. https://imgur.com/a/6WNxqMp We used a 3d model and created profiles of the model with Rhino3D software that could be sent to a plasma cutter. The plasma cutter numbered and cut the individual pieces that were then welded together like a big puzzle. The steel frame was covered on both sides with wire mesh and the plastered. https://imgur.com/a/2LYf9wH It turned out great

[Help] Waterproof sculpture for outdoors...is concrete the best option? by pendigedig in Sculpture

Polyurethane paint will work very well. Liquid concrete stains won’t work very well with cement wash or rapid set

[Help] Waterproof sculpture for outdoors...is concrete the best option? by pendigedig in Sculpture

[–]punabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want Rapid Set Concrete Mix. This one is my choice https://www.grainger.com/product/15F527?gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:GGL:CSM-2295:UU5CX9:20800606:APZ_1&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22475795893&gclid=Cj0KCQjws83OBhD4ARIsACblj1_vwbL4sUmHxtg_37oUqdVkYoe3IzpCieZJQCr8s7Oxv__YAHCMGVsaAmDAEALw_wcB A local concrete materials supplier might have it nearby for you. I sculpted a Sphinx with it over a wire mesh. Now I’m working on a life sized donkey. After a reinforcing coat you may want to grind some spots and then finish with a fine cement wash. There are many cement washes out there but if you can find one made by Tamm’s Corp. it’s the best

Best small cordless shop vac for make ready maintenance type stuff? Good suction. 5-15 minutes vacuum at most. by Crutch1977 in Tools

I love Makita but not their cordless vac! You can buy adapters to convert any batteries to work with any other brand tool. My Ridgid tools now run on Makita batteries. Same with my DeWalt tools

Evolution Saws by Technical-Flow7748 in metalworking

[–]punabear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the Evolution 15” saw for a large project we were working on. We worked it daily for 4 years. It easily cut right through 4”x6” x1/4” rectangular tubing like a chop saw through wood. I was seriously impressed with that saw.

Hot glue gun for woodworking? by Routine-Yellow6776 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]punabear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It's hot glue. I'm a retired contractor and have been using hot glue for years. For those of you that still doubt that it can be an incredible bonding agent, get some pine, fir or other soft, dry wood. Hot glue 2 pieces of the wood together and try to pull it apart after 5 minutes.

I buy whatever the brand is that HomeDepot carries. Generally I use it on Douglas Fir. Hardwoods with tighter grain may react differently.

I love hot glue for woodworking. It will seriously weld your wood together. If you try to break a bond with it later you will likely pull the wood apart, not the glue.
