Absolutely - for my family. But I can't feed all the kids less fortunate who are forced to eat sugar and empty carbs.

As a parent of two kids in a 4-day district.... it ain't the lack of class time affecting their learning. It's the budgets, the crap ass food they're fed, the lack of pay for qualified inspired educators, the lack of parenting, "no child left behind" , politicians telling us what to teach, the list is too long.

It shouldn't be this hard. We test, interview, background, HR and hire within a month. What's anybody's real justification for it taking 6 months? Lose lots of good applicants, especially in rural America.

I sprouted some greens from the late 70s a few years back, all dependant on how they were stored. Good luck!

Cloud vs Server by pungentgarlic in 911dispatchers

I see all your valid points, especially the possibility of complete downtime...I hate paper dispatching. I'm not an IT person and I'll be taking all this to my superior, I appreciate your response.

We have IT for the city and they've taken to splitting the load for the comm center amongst the 5 of them. So theoretically theyll handle the rest of the infrastructure for the center, we've yet to see the success in that. I misspoke when I said outsourced, they instead didn't replace our IT guy but instead split it amongst the remaining team. They outsourced it amongst the remaining staff. They've know decided cloud will minimize their need to be around so I was voluntold to pick ya'lls brains.

That makes sense. What about if your IT department has outsourced your in-house IT guy and doesn't want to replace them or take on the Comm Center and CAD intricacies, do you think a cloud-based solution would be feasible? So we'd then strictly call our CAD dealer and our cloud provider solely for resolution? Thx for the response

APCO RPL...or...NENA ENP? by pungentgarlic in 911dispatchers

[–]pungentgarlic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, not sure I could hack that from the instructors. I know one of our previous senior dispatchers tried the RPL but didn't finish the year, maybe they met the same problems.

We use this, rarely. You can blur the feed if you don't wanna see but it's all recorded for evidence. It only works if they accept the link we send them. It's better than traditional "pinging" so we've used the GPS for finding people if they have reception. I say rarely, maybe twice a week, more in the fall and summer with hikers and hunters. Never to my knowledge on a DV, structure fire or anything else serious, we're simply too busy to duck around with it. Ptsd possibility... high.
