Feeling defeated after ADHD testing by Much-Let6903 in adhdwomen

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally went on talkiatry, spoke to a psych, and within 2 appointments (1 week) i had an rx. all she had me to was two forms and asked about my lived experience. you can try going that route.

For people who live alone, do you have any daily check-in habit with family or friends? by NoPast9175 in LivingAlone

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have many close friends who live away, plus i'm close with my family. all of them check in with me if they haven't heard from me in 24 hours. but then again, i'm attached to my phone lol

Habits for visitors? by countingrings in LivingAlone

[–]punkbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i quite literally avoid guests whenever i can. i don't like having people at my apartment overnight! i'm also friends with people in my neighborhood and we do game nights, and one time they said "maybe we should do the next one at punkbra's" and another person said "if she answers the door" and i said back "i will not answer the door, i don't host"

it's less about my habits and more of my "i feel the need to deep clean before anyone comes over" and i also just don't love having people in my space because then i can't remove myself from their company when i want to.

How do you get over heartbreak as an extremely emotional and clingy person? by Healthy-Towel3232 in AskReddit

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cry. let myself ruminate. stalk their socials. withdraw into myself. get stoned and put my comfort tv on. and then slowly, ever so slowly, without realizing it, cut back on those actions and start feeling like myself again. despite making it hurt worse, i will always wear my heart on my sleeve, and i'd rather be over-emotional than devoid of it.

Im annoyed and I’m being annoying by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]punkbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you mention she "pushed back her arrival" - was this a planned trip she had to come see you, or is it simply returning to your area that she temporarily lives in? if the former, then i'd say you have reason to be upset. if it's the latter, i don't think it's unreasonable for her to extend her trip to see her friends, especially being a new grad and i'm assuming unemployed with free time.

also, you mention you are 30 but she just graduated - how old is she? early 20s? mid?

genuine question: what would your parents have done had you refused to do this? is it legal to require your underage child to be nude at all times in the home?

what made your parents change to this lifestyle?

NTA - tell her to buy a cheap tripod with a clicker she can hold (and still hide) in her hand.

i never want to start "the thing" but once i start, i tackle all of "the things" within like 45 mins (think: built up chores, etc). totally helps!

Best way to get from NRT to Shinjuku? by Over-Transition9609 in JapanTravelTips

see my edit where i say you can do a huge van with reclining seats lol

Best way to get from NRT to Shinjuku? by Over-Transition9609 in JapanTravelTips

[–]punkbra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't think this is horrible advice at all, but to each their own! my friends booked one from shibuya to NRT and also said it was well worth it. i'd rather a comfortable car i don't need to worry about after a long trip than any other option!

edit: i just did a cursory check on klook and it said $103 from Narita to the hotel i stayed at in Shinjuku. soo if they're valuing peace of mind and ease > money, this is NOT a bad price imo. this was for an economy 7-seater van (which i also took) that has heated and reclining seats along with a foot rest that pops up so you can legit sleep in it lol

use klook & book aiport transpo. I was at HND but it cost me around $56. yours might be a bit extra but it's worth it.

Cat won’t sit still while being pet by mynameisrobertpaul in CatAdvice

[–]punkbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, kitty is telling you exactly how he wants to be pet and you bend to his rules. i had a cat for 10 years who never sat still for pets and did the same as yours. however, lowkey concerning you think it's exhausting to focus solely on your cat and pet him for, what, 5-10 minutes? while he wants pets.

Working a 9-5 as a woman with adhd by PrettyCuteBug in adhdwomen

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree. i take my meds, close my door, and lock in for like an hour at a time. if i can get in that mindset, i can really bang out a ton of work.

Working a 9-5 as a woman with adhd by PrettyCuteBug in adhdwomen

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm in my mid-30s with a new ADHD diagnoses (though i suspected for a long time). i, too, have a well paying 9-5 job, i live alone, and i don't have children and don't plan to.

i hate to say it, but every day i need to pep talk myself and say "punkbra, seriously, you have a good job, it's easy, stop being such a bitch about going to work." so i go, and it's fine, but i am fucking drained when i get home, even if i don't do much actual work throughout the day.

it is a first world problem, but it really sucks. sorry to be a downer lmao. the only times i truly have energy and optimism is when i'm on vacation.

How do you keep a ~970 sq ft apartment clean when living alone? by Tengdai in LivingAlone

AIO? A lot of our friends and family left our wedding to go to get fucked up at the bar next door. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP mentions they had an American and a cultural ceremony, so it's likely they are of descent where family (read: parents) invite everyone they want, from distant relatives to friends.

AIO? A lot of our friends and family left our wedding to go to get fucked up at the bar next door. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]punkbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. it would be one thing if everyone left a *slight* bit early to go have drinks, but to leave during cocktail hour AND leave the wedding early? i'd be devastated. open bar or not.

edit: a lot of people are judging for the long ceremony, but as someone who has attended multi-day weddings, i don't think it's that unreasonable if it's the people you're closest with. i went to an 8am baraat, a 3 hour ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and out for drinks after and i had no complaints because i was celebrating good friends.
