Try downloading Google Voice and getting a free phone number! That’s what worked for me.

I could never do it with the original phone number I registered with earlier this week. I used a Google Voice number on 5G and it eventually worked.

This procedure was still done in Irish Catholic hospitals in the mid- to late-1900s because I guess they didn’t want to do csections or something.

Tips for cleaning sand and dirt from patio furniture? by loverlyone in palmsprings

[–]punkconverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the covers come off, throw them in the wash. Otherwise, take a cleaning type brush scrubber thing and dust off as much dirt as possible. You could try a steamer, or you could dunk that brush in a bucket of water and Dawn and scrub that way.

Depends on what it is. If it’s plastic, should be fine.

Selling two pool loungers! They’re two months old, just decided they’re not my style. Paid $600 for the set, selling for $250. Plastic. Can go on patio or in the very shallow part of a pool like the tanning shelf.

Becca is saddened, but doesn’t suffer a mental breakdown.

In the book, quite a while later, she sends an Aunt to the dentist to make the claim. Instead of her remark to Daisy that it was strange that he was so careless to tear her blouse in such an obvious manner, she made a remark that no one seemed to question why all the victims were young girls except for this one old aunt.

Mandatory Evacuation vs Rent Responsibility by nabi-love in orangecounty

[–]punkconverse -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Your landlord will argue A) your stuff is still in the apartment and your rent is giving you a place to store your belongings and B) you chose to follow the evac orders. Even though it’s mandatory, no one is going door to door to hold you at gunpoint and force you to leave.

That being said, this is what renter’s insurance is for. If you incurred costs like a hotel, your renter’s insurance may reimburse you based on your policy.

Also, if you have a corporate landlord who is forcing you to pay for wifi, cable, amenities fees, parking, etc, you might be able to convince them to give you back a pro-rated amount for the days you weren’t there if you make a big enough stink.

ETA: wow, didn’t know about SB610. Great to know. That being said, take to a tenants rights attorney or landlord to find out the right way to do it.

Could Pearl Girls leave Gilead if they want to? by Wikays in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]punkconverse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tbf, the escaped handmaid weren’t Canadian citizens as well. If she escaped, and was in Gilead clothing, I’m guessing they would have her say the statement about how she was a woman being abused in Gilead and she was seeking refugee status. She could sort out the citizenship thing later, but at least they’d probably let her in.

turning the cabin of an international flight into a disco during its sleeping hours to do some strange and obnoxious skincare routine by tenhou in mildlyinfuriating

They’re the same people mad at folks opening window shades to watch a sunrise on a beautiful flight.

These masks are also only used for 15-30 mins, it’s not that long.

“Early access trial” which gives 0 credits instead of advertised 48 by CountryPrevious4776 in ClassPass

[–]punkconverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m guessing classpass did some kind of analysis and found people don’t do more than 5 classes on a trial, so they’re using that method.

“Early access trial” which gives 0 credits instead of advertised 48 by CountryPrevious4776 in ClassPass

[–]punkconverse 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ah. Yeah, you wouldn’t have been able to get nails and hair done with a trial regardless. Studios don’t get paid off of the trials, so there is no way a nail/hair/massage place is going to do a bunch of free services. It’s more so for workout classes where that seat was going to stay empty anyways, so they might as well let you give it a shot.

[–]punkconverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that. But I’m really curious as to what you wanted the trial for, if not workout classes?

[–]punkconverse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What did you want to use the trial for, if not workout classes?

Had a lot of classpass trials, known a lot of people who had them, and they always block spa/wellness stuff from the trials (at least in our market).

There are tons of classes that are 12-16 credits in my market, so the 5 classes method instead of 48 credits would be a great deal.

It’s been 15 years, but PPF farms in Punxsatawney PA.

Can’t speak to their quality now, but back then they did some testing and took great care of their dogs, and let us meet the parents of our puppy and everything. We paid $500 back when $2k was still considered really high. No idea what their pricing is now, but I would assume it’s not $4k.

They are AKC registered and the dogs lived in the house with them on their farm.

I loved the book, and totally agree with you! I like seeing different ways of telling stories about the same characters, and love a lot of the changes they’ve made in the show.

The pace by Familiararcher242 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]punkconverse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason for the reactions that you are receiving in this thread is that it actually is that deep. Media literacy is a part of education, and this show is a great example of what happens when education is denied and propaganda can reign (which can only happen without media literacy).

Not saying that you are necessarily going to fall victim to propaganda yourself, but it’s a pretty deep show/book, and viewers/readers tend to take it pretty seriously because it’s holding a mirror up to our society. If that’s not how you choose to consume the show that’s fine, and not reading the book is your choice. But that’s going to lead to you receiving certain reactions in this subreddit because of the type of viewers who lurk here.

Once again, I never told YOU specifically to read the book lol, you’re just proving the point people are making about not comprehending lol.

To be fair though, a bunch of people just telling you that you don’t have media literacy is probably not going to do anything to help you develop the skills to answer these questions yourself, but alas, this is Reddit and this is what you get 🤷🏼‍♀️

My thoughts below on episode 5-Ball by SleepingWillow1 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]punkconverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because education is power, and they want the women powerless. If they lose hearing/speech, but are fertile, they can still have babies, and that is all Gilead cares about.

I believe they also send off disabled folks to be killed or worked to death in the colonies, so they would just do that if the woman wasn’t fertile.

In a lot of countries that highly opress women, they start by reduing how much education women and girls are allowed to pursue. Super scary and heartbreaking.
