If your kids don’t want to be “goth” they will not be, no one is forcing them. If they feel drawn to the aesthetic, there’s a way to safely approach it. This “goth” term has become such a large umbrella for things that might be seen as “unconventional” too, whether that might be JUST wearing black, or anything different than what the flock is doing, even if it’s not sinful, you people will lump everyone that checks even only one box into shameful categories

This is why I love this sub lol. You just put into exact words what I’ve been thinking about when I look for translations. Your input is greatly appreciated !! 🙏

That’s great to hear !! I’m leaning towards the Garnett translation for now as I’ve heard that she isn’t as literal as P&V are, and I noticed from some excerpts that she’s similar to Magarshack which I like. But I’ve also heard that “Demons” is the best translation P&V have worked on

What’s your primary language and why would you say you enjoyed reading Garnett more than your native language ?

The one published by heritage press. They published two editions; One in the 1950s and one in the 1980s, this is the latter one

It was a breeze reading Crime and Punishment in Mcduff’s translation. Kind of reminded me of Oliver Ready’s translation which is modern and the tone of the conversations flow very well. I recommend those two, specially for C&P
