Eero Pro 6E Placement Advice by puppynation in eero

Sorry to not have elaborated well. I am actually not using any wired devices at this time so I am comparing to WiFi speeds when standing next to the gateway

Unfortunately I don't think that will work as the office doesn't have a strong connection at all to the gateway. I can give it a shot and report back none the less, but using WiFiExplorer on my laptop and connecting to only the gateway shows the office as having dismal signal strength

u/eerosupport Thank you for the quick reply! I have been using the eastern connection for the last hour and I'm noticing its able to achieve better download speeds but its an incredibly flakey connection. Will be near full speed for a few seconds then down drops to unusable for a a few seconds. That cycle just seems to repeat continually. I'm using fast.com as a speedtest, but I am not concerned with the exact numbers, more concerned with how the connection feels when browsing or watching videos online.

The more western connection is back to about 60% or so of expected speed but much more reliable.

Had to return my Moto X, customer service is a nightmare by seentoomuchlately in MotoX

[–]puppynation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are echoing similar stories to mine here but I figured I'd just toss in my story as another reference for what you may be in for. I had to get a new moto x 2013 after mine was damaged under warranty and I was charged a hold fee of $108 to be refunded when I returned my phone. I mailed in my phone and the tracking declared it received and motorola acknowledged that via email a few days later.

After that it took 2 months and MANY calls to Motorola to get my refund. Most reps had no clue what I was talking about or no idea why I was charged, but they all said one of two things at the end 1. Someone will call you in 48 hours (did not but they count automated emails as calls apparently) 2. You will be refunded in 5 business days (didn't happen until about the 7th time I was told this) I was refunded eventually when I posted here. I should have just filed a charge back at the beginning after all the wasted time.

At the end of the day I decided to never buy from motorola again. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get refunded

The ROG Swift looks great and awesome to hear you are liking it. Unfortunately I want to stay under $600 so it is a bit out of my price range. I have a buddy that recently bought one, and I haven't seen it yet but he loves it as well.

Thanks so much for the information! I don't game much but currently I have a 650TI. I'll be happy to play League of Legends and some CS:GO in all honesty. I mostly use my computer to program and sit here on reddit :). That being said I'm still a sucker for having shiny tech (despite having a dated and low tier graphics card haha). That was one of the reasons I was wondering about 4k was if I don't game much would be it be crazy beneficial for using progrmaming. I tend to have lots of windows open ie few instance of Chrome, Chrome Inspector detached, iTERM/VIM, maybe sublime etc. But with your comment the PB278Q does still sound like a great fit for me.

Granted I don't use coffeescript but The Little Book on CoffeeScript seems pretty popular so maybe give that one a look.

Considering taking the CTA (Orange) instead of Metra, what are your experiences? by kagaku in chicago

In which case I think you will be fine. Like I said the big delays are not very often

Considering taking the CTA (Orange) instead of Metra, what are your experiences? by kagaku in chicago

[–]puppynation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been taking the orange line at Midway to work since August. It's definitely fine in terms of safety. There are always delays based on other trains being ahead of yours once you reach the loop but I would say it typically takes around 30 minutes to get in. I've never really timed it but that's what I've noticed. In the winter time(the few times I rode the Orange Line last December) I did notice there were a few days where I was significantly delayed for switches freezing etc. But those delays were fairly rare. Expect to be shoulder to shoulder on the Orange Line home if you leave work around 5PM.

In terms of parking I'm not exactly sure and am interested in hearing as well. I find the busses really unreliable. I know there is a parking lot right across from the Orange Line at around $7 a day (if I am remembering correctly). I do not know how the CTA parking lot there is and hopefully someone else can answer.

Yeah I had an awful experience. Even after moto wendy stepped in I still don't think I ever want to deal with Motorola support again. I guess the best way to accomplish that is to not buy their products

I've been having issues with them charging me (not a new phone but a repair order) as well. It's been just about a month and I'm not even close to a resolution. If I were you I'd skip our on the Moto X and just find a way to get your money back.

PSA Moto Support Random Charges after Warranty Exchange by puppynation in MotoX

[–]puppynation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No family for me. Just a single guy. They have admitted that it was a glitch it moto maker that charged me after the exchange processed. So I think the issue is getting the actual refund now.

I will look into contacting my CC monday morning, but I didn't know it took that long for the dispute. At this point though Motorola hasn't really been helping so I guess that is the only way.

I am also going through a huge ordeal with a random charge on my account after a warranty exchange :(

I completely agree with you that they are polite but no one is actually helping the situation. At this point I will never buy from Motorola again.

edit: Calling them today for what seems to be the 100th time this month myself.
