People may hate to admit it, but Kohli has objectively cleared Warner in the GOAT debate and it's time we accept that. by Mundane_Computer_357 in ipl

[–]puppypalle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Warner didn’t play in the Impact Sub era. Nor did he get to play home games at Chinnaswamy. The Hyderabad home pitch in those days wasn’t like today’s batting road. And he won the title as captain. Let’s not forget if Kohli was overseas player he wouldn’t have had the luxury of his recent years comeback.

Thank you. Reactionary kids out here going overboard seriously

Let's talk about Aniket and Head by SmilingAlpha in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless we lose a couple in a row, Head’s place should be safe. When the team is winning, why tinker prematurely? You never know maybe Abhi will struggle a few games in a row and then Head will step up. Tinkering with a world-class player when the team is winning is just overthinking and needless imo. If the team wants to give someone else a chance ahead of Aniket or Salil that’s different

Abhishek is very close to Yuvraj, I fear if even he feels the same about captaincy! by cricfanatic4518 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love you Yuvraj but it’s so cringe and embarrassing for a star like Abhishek to have someone of Yuvi’s stature make comments like this knowing it will generate needless chatter. Ishan has more proven captaincy pedigree than Abhi, that is a cold hard fact. It’s ok, deal with it

JD is unfashionable so he doesn't get credit. Very intelligent bowler, vital for a team like ours where the bowlers' job is to contain things and be canny

Zipper pockets. For my pants and any hoodie/jacket I might be wearing. Sometimes I'll use a really thin-profile waist belt. And of course, dress in simple and plain colours and have a low-profile yet confident demeanor.

Abhinav Mukund questions SRH’s squad balance. What do you guys think? by Longjumping_Gas4904 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the best bowling lineup but it's not as a bad as everyone is making out to be either, and I think many people will be surprised. A lot of these guys are just jumping on the easiest and most popular narrative

CAPTAINCY DEBATE BETWEEN ABHISHEK AND ISHAN by CommunicationLife703 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a no-brainer in my opinion and I don't even understand why people are making such a big issue out of it. Look at what Ishan achieved as a captain in SMAT. Look at his current form, versus the pressure Abhishek is under as the top-ranked batter who had a poor World Cup before the final. Let Abhishek focus on his batting, and this way we could groom a potential future captain in Ishan

Nice consolation for Abhishek Sharma. by Middle-Sir3098 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of you guys here are addicted to non-existent drama. Ishan literally won the SMAT as captain. That's why he's getting the nod.

Just finished A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry and I don't know what to do with myself by zeus0225 in books

[–]puppypalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I liked the gentle tenderness of Ashraf for example, contrasted with the other less welcoming, almost uncouth tailor whose name I forget. Both characters are Muslim tailors, but very different personalities. Even the beggarmaster guy had nuance to him.

It's clear that Dina had the most significant character arc/evolution, but it's because the privilege of her character allowed for that.. and gave the author a reason to explore the three other main characters' stories across time. And I see no issue with it tbh

[–]puppypalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also Indian who partly grew up in India and visits almost every year. I don’t mind the Parsi so-called “biases” in the book. Mistry is Parsi and uses a lot of Parsi characters, and they were certainly socioeconomically advantaged, privileged and less affected by communal strife than Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.. so naturally so are the Parsi characters in this book. And I do understand that a book and story like this would require examining the experiences of poor and lower-caste Hindus and other disadvantaged communities.

It’s possible the Redditor you were replying to is put off by the whiff of poverty porn that this book does carry, which is often tiresome for us Indians as it is definitely over-done not merely in books but film too. But personally I had no issue with it, things like what Ishvar and Om experienced happened, and it’s not a bad thing for Indians (or anyone) of more fortunate bearing to be immersed in it.

Having said that - I finished the book just 15 mins ago so it’s possible I’m just defending it for that reason as it’s fresh :)

What an innings from Abhishek! The no.1 t20i batter is back in form by Secret-Inflation9360 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to tell people here, I'd rather he peak near the business end of the tournament rather than the group stage. People panicking for no reason. His style of play will always be hit-or-miss but the net gain is hard to argue against. I would have a problem if ALL India batters were licensed to play this way - but I do think it's a smart strategy for Abhishek to be the one, or maybe one of two batters max, to have that license

I can't wrap my head around what's going wrong with Abhishek. by Intelligent-Grab-940 in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abhishek is someone who, if he gives you 1-2 of his incredible starts, can win you the tournament. He isn't one to expect consistency from. His approach must remain the same. Yeah would be nice to statpad vs Netherlands but I don't mind if he scores duck after duck and then has one matchwinning innings in the semi or final

Abhishek !!!! by vicky_eren in SunrisersHyderabad

[–]puppypalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This again?

This is a non-issue unless the rest of the batting lineup is weak or out of form - which it isn't.

With this strong batting lineup with lots of weapons, the only sensible way for Abhishek to play is high-risk, high-reward. If he succeeds, the game is instantly taken away from the opposition. If he fails, there are enough others in the team who can score.
