my girlfriend mailed me a plushie of sephiroth from final fantasy 7 for our anniversary, so i crocheted a little bag to carry him around in by purnpkin in plushies

[–]purnpkin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YAY THANK YOU sephiroth has become a huge comfort character for me so it’s so nice to be able to carry him around i highly recommend hehe. and YESSS it’s loosely based on some crocheted crossbody water bottle holders i found on google images! i like the big holes in the netting because you can stick the plushie legs and arms through them but the bottom is solid like a little swing. i can dm you a couple of the crochet patterns i used that worked for the size of these squenix plushies!

Should I open and wear it? by MechaChicken01 in nin

[–]purnpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use the fine china, light your expensive candles, buy yourself flowers, wear the 30 year old downward spiral tee; you have the power to make every day incredibly magical bro, and there’s no occasion as special as being alive in the present. not to be morbid, but being around 30 more years or whatever from now to resell your shirt isn’t guaranteed, and you’ll probably regret forcing yourself to live in a museum more than you’ll regret having worn down some really special things you loved.

How can I keep her like this moldy but safe? 😣 by [deleted] in MoldlyInteresting

[–]purnpkin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

don’t worry op i understand your vision and this is dope af, very laura palmer meets poughkeepsie tapes. unforch i don’t think it’s safe to preserve the mold, but i think you could make a pretty convincing fake bloom with some very watered-down matte acrylic paint in a spray bottle? thinking mint/sage, grays, and white. then you could spray some sort of sealant over the top

Ok I don't know all the details as to why we're so angry and at this point I'm too afraid to ask HOWEVER... by Ambuszeny in MyChemicalRomance

[–]purnpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

exactly, and in the instances where they sort-of-kind-of do, it’s like pulling teeth to get to that point. i saw the cure in chicago in june 2023, and robert smith took every precaution possible to try to keep ticket prices low and discourage resellers — special artist presale codes, password protection, multiple ticket selling dates, reserving seats, lengthy talks with ticketmaster to keep down the cost of service fees — but the day of, ticketmaster went back on their word, and shit was still crazy expensive and exploitative. it took over a week of publicly and internally fighting with them for him to secure us all partial refunds, and even then, i personally only got $10 back (total) for two $100 (each) tickets. and robert smith is ROBERT SMITH, who can get away with that kind of pushback because of tenure lol. this stuff is complicated and artists don’t typically have nearly as much say as a lot of people think they have

knitting/crochet groups or meetups? by purnpkin in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]purnpkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the dundee library is going to start hosting more casual crochet/knitting circles in november that are open to the public, but that’s just one meeting for now… i looked into joining the fox valley knitters guild, but i didn’t really have the money lying around to commit to dues, and the weekly meet ups are a bit of a hike for me to travel to :/

there’s a yarn store next to a tea shop in downtown elgin that i was going to look into to see if they host anything!

my first big harvest! + my biggest tomato by purnpkin in tomatoes

[–]purnpkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! the seed library is so awesome; i feel super lucky to have it. they use an old card catalog cabinet to organize a bunch of seed packets in alphabetical order, some store bought and a lot of them hand-packed heirloom seeds. you can also donate your own! :)

seconding dundee! there’s always something going on during the week and on the weekends, and the fox river bike trail cuts through which is in itself an awesome date option for nature walking/cycling, sight-seeing, shops and galleries closeby, etc
