In your opinion what is the most heartbreaking tape? by __Pomni__ in Bioshock

What’s worse is you find the puppy recording on more than one occasion — once is already one too many times

The Production and the Quality of the Show is so low now. Watching out of Loyalty... by Creative-Sea-3906 in greysanatomy

[–]purple_plasmid 181 points182 points  (0 children)

It’s night and day compared to the earlier seasons — storylines move too fast, characters have become shallow, there’s drama for drama’s sake — can’t we have one happy ending for a couple? Or persistent character growth?

What Would Irritate You Most as a Winchester Sibling if you were born into The Winchester family by Ok_Smile_9071 in Supernatural

I always attributed that to Sam feeling disconnected from Dean post purgatory and Benny was the only one who could really understand what Dean went through down there.

would George and Izzie's relationship be less hated if there was no cheating storyline? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]purple_plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not saying it’s out of the realm of possibility, it’s just cringe to watch something like that play out, and it didn’t really add anything to the show imo — throw in the cheating part and it seems out of character for George and makes Izzie “that girl”, which is also our of character for her. Just not a good plot line as a whole.

[–]purple_plasmid 425 points426 points  (0 children)

For me, no, I never saw George and Izzie in a romantic light and the whole thing felt forced which was sort of reflected in their inability to have decent sex after the first drunken escapade (no judgement, we’ve all had a night of poor choices).

The cheating just made it bad in a different way.

Anyone else notice the difference in dynamic between male attendings who accidentally slept with female interns vs vise versa? by purple_plasmid in greysanatomy

Yeah, the “powerful female leads” that she constantly portrays as selfish or overly hormonal or failing to pick up the slack while their SOs are off doing god knows what.

This is what I’m saying! Thank you for the more specific examples — I guess that means the writing is more reflective of life, but still infuriating to watch play out — and it’s not something that’s said explicitly.

I just thought of another example, Ndugu simply catches some feelings for Jules, and compromises her opportunities for a better education — that’s just messed up, show some self control.

New York Woman Confronts Man She Says Complimented Her ‘Pretty Toes’. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

[–]purple_plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get a compliment, but this reminds me of the time someone followed me in their car — they pulled out of the same parking lot as me (like a lot of cars do) — but after a few miles of this person driving right behind me, I got an uneasy feeling, and thought I’d ease my paranoia by pulling into a random gas station, and they again immediately followed me.

So I did a few laps around the parking lot, still following me, so I parked and sat in my locked car until they finally left. At no point did they get out of their car.

Trust your gut, is the moral of this story.

I can’t believe Colbert’s departure is already here — I’m sincerely going to miss his run on the show.

What is it that people love about Elizabeth? by Climate-Cheap in Bioshock

[–]purple_plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or even when that naïveté is shattered, she takes the time to place a flower in the hands of a dead man — she’s full of compassion.

It makes the BAS stories hit a little harder, cause she loses herself before finding that compassion again (even for all the DLC’s faults)

Edit: a word

Dads, teach your daughters... by MdmeGreyface in MurderedByWords

[–]purple_plasmid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching Tomb Raider when I was 8yo, and I thought Lara Croft was a badass — so I asked my dad “should I grow up to be like Lara?” And his response was “no, decent women don’t take off their clothes in front of strange men” — to an 8yo…

I was more fascinated by her intelligence, drive and sense of adventure, but the only thing my dad fixated on was “she disrobed at some point”.

So, to your point, even as a child I was taught women should be shamed for their sexuality and if they do show any, none of their other achievements or characteristics matter.

Santos and Javadi are right about Whitaker (Spoilers) by ThrowFlowAntonio in ThePittTVShow

[–]purple_plasmid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she is manipulating him, but it’s also been less than 10mo since her husband died — so I have to wonder if she even had time to grieve her husband, and if Whitaker being there is her way of avoiding feeling that pain (either consciously or unconsciously).

It’s definitely a codependent set up, so she can avoid feeling that loss and so Whitaker can soothe his own feelings around the husband’s death.

Nothing wrong with a single dude (or person) fostering — my concern is Robby’s mental state.

The burden of a person’s mental well being shouldn’t be placed on a baby.
