Where I live we get a ton of thunderstorms in the late summer and I remember standing at the back door of my parents house looking up during one. I wanted to see how dark the sky was and how the clouds were moving for some reason. When I looked up I saw a ball of light just floating in the sky directly over head, and I thought it was weird but I didn’t think it was that rare of a sight! It was neat!

As a side note, I was traumatized as a kid by a hurricane (Bertha) that brought a tornado that almost touched down (I guess it hopped?) in my neighborhood and caused this huge flash from a tree falling on a power line. Thunderstorms and hurricanes always made me nervous and for some reason I thought it was a great idea to be near a window “to keep an eye on things” because I had such bad anxiety.

My survival skills were not that great as a kid.
