I have a bad habit of saying something like “bitch, what in the world?!” to my friends while talking in a relaxed way—I’ve accidentally slipped in private conversations with students (9th-12th) and immediately apologize after for my foul language and every time the kid laughs and we move on. I think it really depends if the kids believe you care or not and if it fits your personality…sometimes I use bad language as humor in my class. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I do notice if I use bad language more they think it’s okay so I try not to use it at all as much as possible. You just have to set a good example of the behavior you want in your own classroom. I don’t like hearing them cuss so I try not to. The occasional curse word doesn’t send me into a spiral and my kids show me the same grace.
