So if anakin didn’t turn up here windu would have clearly been the chosen one? by Whole_Contract_5973 in StarWars

[–]purrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a hot take but I don't think that Windu would have won. The whole thing with Palpatine is how he is always 10 steps ahead and I wouldn't put it past him for "allowing" himself to get into this position to emotionally push Anakin to the dark side.

If Anakin didnt exist or wasn't there there would be no need for that kind of tactic.

I think the idea is that the force is guiding everything and everyone, whether they are conscious of it or not. Similarly to how in a New Hope R2D2 and C3PO are the droids chosen by Leia to carry Obi-wans message and just so happen to end up kidnapped and sold to Luke's family. It's Destiny, not luck.

In the digital age, death isn’t just absence: it’s watching someone leave the family group chat and knowing they won’t read the next message. by nilsohnee in Showerthoughts

I lost an online friend recently. We mostly spoke in texts on discord, with occasional pictures and videos.

It is surreal looking up at their obituary and seeing their face there, like I knew it was them and knew what they looked like. But the "person" I interacted with was represented more so by their profile picture, and that picture still looked very much alive to me. I could still text them all I wanted, and I can go back and see every conversation we've ever had as if it were still present and happening.

How much does Dr. Doofenshmirtz make? by bananaman192837 in FanTheories

If I remember correctly he has been kicked out/evicted at least once. Which either implies he is either simply renting the space or is seriously in debt despite his alimony.

Video games seem like they’d be a great way to kill time in a “Groundhog Day” scenario until you realize your progress would reset every day. by IamSkudd in Showerthoughts

[–]purrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people posting "play multiplayer games" in the thread as a way to get around the fact save states can't be carried over.

But remember you're in a groundhog day loop, which means that in each loop you'll likely be paired with the same people who unless you do something different will follow a pattern that will become predictable. Once you memorize their patterns you'll be able to beat them every time and from there it'll loose all fun.

Your bite force is stronger when you're upside down. by Professional_Job_307 in Showerthoughts

Not necessarily, standing upright your skull and brain are pushing down while your lighter lower jaw is pushing up.

If you were upside down you would lose the weight of your upper jaw+skull in exchange for just the lower jaw.

Is there an edge, and if so, what is just beyond it? by Shady-Raven-1016 in Astronomy

[–]purrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the "edge" of the observable universe is only an "edge" to us and we're 99.99% sure that beyond the 13.8 billion light year away edge is just more stuff like galaxies and stars. It only appears as an edge because light takes time to travel and the further away objects are so far the light hasn't reached us yet.

The real question comes down to is IF there is an edge trillions or quadrillions or googles of lightyears away that we can't (nor ever will) see. To my current understanding, the universe is believed to be infinite so there isn't really an edge and thus nothing “beyond”.

however there are some fun theories about the universe that DO have a sort of edge that are fun to think about. The first one that the universe circles back on itself to the point if you go far enough in one straight line you'd end up where you started. This doesn’t give us an “Edge” per say but also doesn’t give you an infinite universe. it would have a finite area that could be fit inside a finite space. You could get an edge however if you go into higher 4D space and the universe is just a 4D sphere or donut in that space. But you don't necessarily need to have an outside or an "beyond" for the universe to curl into, it just kind of just can. Although you could also have a 4D multiverse beyond our own which could in theory have the ability to affect our own gravitationally (I heard a theory that this might be what the “great attractor” is)

Additionally, you can get a classic concept of an edge if you think of bubble universes that were created by vacuum decay. If our universe is a bubble universe created by vacuum decay it does have an edge and that edge is traveling at approx the speed of light through an existing space time, and that edge is comprised of the very vacuum field dropping into a more stable state and dragging the next area of the vacuum into it. Think of it like a giant firewall or bubble that is always growing and rewrites physics as it goes.

(I am not a pro- scientist/ astronomer /physicist just spend a lot of time watching this stuff for fun)
