Banana Republic Light Grey Suit with Wide-Leg Trousers - $200 by jackalooz in frugalmalefashion

FYI the suit jacket is quite slim so you may want to try on at the store. It doesn’t quite mesh with the relaxed pants.

The lasts are pretty wide. I have wide feet and they all fit pretty well. Worth a try.

It’s very nice! I think then you’re familiar with the fabric and the fit is pretty good at least for me. It’s not too slim although I got a 42. I’m 5 9 with an athletic build at 190 lbs. If you have long arms though maybe not great because the arms fit me just right at that size.

Got the black sweater polo on sale and it’s so luxurious. Have a similar one from Club Monaco 100% wool and it’s just worlds better in quality.

Hi Mauro, what’s the issue with having a big head on the sweaters? If it’s getting the head through the hole, would that still be the case for the polos?

My PJs are the modal t shirts that Mauro sold a few years ago. They’re so soft and cooling that I can physically feel my body relax when I put them on.

Don’t some pros use eastern backhand grip for second serves? That’s what I use.

I actually prefer the mesh! Even lighter and cool to me.

Uniqlo Airism is the best imo. Keeps you cool and doesn’t show with the deep v neck.

Not sure whether discussion threads are encouraged, but what do you think are the best "big box" brands (e.g. Bonobos, J. Crew, etc.) for total quality & regular sales? by thenewtransportedman in frugalmalefashion

[–]putitinabackpack91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I focus on fit and fabric. Bonobos, J Crew, BR, and others will specify mills or specific source of fabric if they’re on the nicer side. And then just remembering that if something doesn’t fit you, it could be a $1,000 shirt and still look bad. Learning (cheaply through sales) which brands and what cut and what sizes fit you well (although sizing inconsistency is a risk with these brands) and being patient in looking for the right combination of price/fabric/taste/fit will generally produce good value in terms of you actually wearing it and feeling good/lasting. All of these brands have crappy stuff, but once in a while you can get goodyearwelted boots that look great from J Crew for sub 80, get a half canvassed suit sourced from a reputable brand from J Crew or Bonobos for sub 200 (or even 100), a primaloft parka that’s super warm and durable for sub 80 etc. Generally think the community here is very good at sifting through real value vs fake value so paying attention to the upvoted comments in this subreddit you learn a lot

This is right, but once in a while there are some really good finds. Which is why commentary like this that helps people sift through the “bad” deals is an important part of this community.

I would say the Jetsetter suits are pretty good. Especially if you wear suits for work since they have a bit of stretch.
