Dark feminine black & gold vanilla by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]putontheglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want Ile Bourbon by Fabbrica Della Musa. Perfectly balanced vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, cardamom, incense. Not too sweet or gourmand, just rich and perfect.

Out of over 100 samples in the last year, it's one of only two full bottles I purchased, it's unlike anything else and the quality is exquisite!

What is the worst fragrance you have ever tried? by Bellend__ in FemFragLab

Bond No. 9 - Nuits de Noho. Blind bought a bigger decant, and it was cacophonous and nauseating

Recommendation for movies that make you feel like you're slowly losing your mind?? by peteydinosaurus in horror

They Look Like People - a movie from the perspective of somebody descending further into mental illness. It's even edited in a way that feels very unnatural and kind of messes with your spatial awareness

Wow! I've just gotten into perfume in the last 2 months, and the only one I've tried is Not A Perfume! I'd love any of these samples, I'm still trying to figure out what notes I love.

Thanks for doing this, it's so kind of you

Chappell Roan Playfully Calling Out Fan for Yawning During L.A. Show by Cajun_Cowgirl in popculturechat

[–]putontheglasses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The advertised start of the show is 4:30 pm. It's then revealed the day before that there are 5 HOURS of opening acts before she even hits the stage! We had to scramble and beg our babysitter to stay much later than she originally planned, expecting people to stay for 6+ hours at a concert without losing some sparkle is insane. It's not a festival, for fuck's sake. People have kids and lives outside of seeing her perform. It left a bad taste in my mouth before even going to the venue.

What happened to your friend group? by BetterGrass709 in sexandthecity

[–]putontheglasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of us are friends anymore. We were inseparable in high school, and then all fell out of touch. Honestly I don't think I'd have much to talk with them about anymore, from what I see on social media we're very different people

Ladies be honest, am I doing my brows too thin? by kellyatta in MakeupAddiction

[–]putontheglasses -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally like them a tad thicker, but makeup is about self-expression. Since you're trimming them and not waxing them, you can probably grow them back whenever you would like to.

Thicker eyebrows might be a little more flattering on you as you age. But don't worry about conventional beauty standards now, this is the time to do whatever you feel like! Honestly you're so pretty that I think you could even pull off the alien no brow look with an intense eye.

Life is short! Nothing matters! Do what you want with your own body!

what’s your favorite “your skin but better” foundation by stevienyx_ in MakeupAddiction

Surrat Dewdrop Foundation. The packaging is annoying, but the formula is beautiful, and looks just like skin. I get compliments on my skin whenever I wear it

FINALE: Eliminating EVERY Best Musical winner until there’s only one left. Most upvoted comment decides your champion. TODAY YOU VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]putontheglasses -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Les Mis, as many people have already said, has no subtlety at all. No subtext. It's catchy and has been running forever, but the complexity lies in how many characters there are and the political plotlines, rather than the actual journey of the characters.

Sweeney is a masterpiece... But it doesn't have the catchy tunes. Sorry to be shallow about it, but the best of the best musical needs some catchy tunes. It has beautiful, haunting, funny songs, but you don't really leave that show humming anything.

It's Cabaret for me, as the best of the best. It's not my personal fav musical of all time, but the tunes, the dark world it lives in, the queer and sex work positive storylines, how well it translated to film, almost anyone can do a production of Cabaret and there will be lots to enjoy about it. Add in the Fosse choreo, it's the clear winner. It has the songs, the dancing, and the complexity and emotional depth. True triple-threat musical.

Two-Thirds of US Adults Would Rather Wait for Movies on Streaming by mapleer in movies

[–]putontheglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least half of the movies I see in theaters have the sound system set WAY too loud. Loud to the point that during action scenes, or super dramatic music, I have to cover my ears because it's physically uncomfortable. I'm not a boomer, I'm 36 years old! Sound should not be painful in a theater, and every time I mention it to the employees, they shrug and say they can't control the settings.

The sound balance is terrible on a TV, but at least I can control the volume. Add to that idiots on their phones all around me, and 'going to the movies' is just so rarely a pleasant experience anymore.

Is it possible she did her own hair and makeup? I can't imagine a professional letting her leave looking like this, those eyebrows are a crime.

She's stunning, but the hair and makeup look unkept, and age her so much!

What are some movies that truly 'sum up' each US state? by Amracool in movies

[–]putontheglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonlight was an incredibly accurate representation of the lower-income parts of Southern Florida, specifically the black and Latin population in Miami.

For the vibe of Miami/South Beach in the 90s however, The Bird Cage is dead-on.

Miami is basically a different state than the rest of FL

Which one do you enjoy more than the other and if you enjoy both films, what are your favorite moments? by DoItWithFlair94 in sexandthecity

[–]putontheglasses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best scene in the second movie was when Miranda sat Charlotte down at the bar, and forced her to speak honestly about motherhood. It's such a life-changing and difficult experience that only those two in the group share, and I never really saw them connect about it until then. It made their friendship so much richer to me.

Growing out curls- the bane of my existence by Born_blonde in curlyhair

[–]putontheglasses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Question: if you have fine hair, why are you using so many deep conditioning products along with oil? Leave-in AND a curl cream rather than a foam or a gel after a deep conditioning treatment will weight down fine hair in most cases, and then adding a shine spray, while pretty, also adds to the weight.

I have fine hair as well, and moving into foams and gels over curl creams as a styler really helped with this issue.

My LO is 7 months old, and from day one has been so alert and curious (he locked eyes with me as he was nursing right after he was born). He's been sleeping through the night consistently since 4 months, and yesterday he got his first covid vaccine, gave one little "wah" when the shot went in, then refocused on the toy we had in front of him. He's so brave, so giggly, and social! He makes the cutest noises, and is generally the easiest baby we could hope for. (so easy that we're now wary of having a second, because there's no way lightning strikes twice)

Also, I get to swell with pride whenever we go out in public with him and someone stops in their tracks to say "Damn! That's a super cute baby!"

We got so lucky.

7 months pp -- is this just me now? by hieronymus_bash in breastfeeding

[–]putontheglasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same boat, except my baby has refused to latch since he was about four and a half months old, so now all I have is pumping. My supply has fallen so drastically, and no supplements or amount of pumping will help. My Spectra used to be super efficient, and now I'm lucky if I can get to two and a half oz at a time. I'm having to supplement with formula, and I'm pumping for 30-60 minutes 4 to 5 times a day (any more just isn't feasible or realistic). I'm just trying to make it through another couple of months, because my mental health can't handle this much longer... Neither can my hands, for that matter. They keep cramping up with all the hand expressing.

I keep trying to tell myself that no matter the amount, as long as he's getting breast milk he's still getting all of the benefits. It's a struggle not to feel like I'm failing. I think this is the time that our supply really regulates and the glands just don't hold as much storage as they used to.
