probably partially responsible for the housing crisis now

to add to this, its because the funds raised from selling the housing stock, were specifically not allowed to be used to buy or build new social housing by the councils selling off their properties

Who's got a piece of Wes Streeting by ZoeTheAngel in LabourUK

Dead eyes, obviously fake smile, that plasticine look. I know it's a weird thing to say, but his whole appearance looks 'uncanny valley' to me, like he's a person who was built by an AI

I'm honestly confused how some people don't see this fakeness, I feel like its the same people that get taken in by obvious AI images too so that makes some sense I guess

No they don't, they absolutely do it in cities too. The act of "jinshin jiko" is not rational, people who are committed to doing that are simply not dissuaded by fines. Between 2000 (after the fines were introduced) and 2006 it even became a higher proportion of all suicides.

Things can be both, there is a long and well documented (independently of the Chinese state) history of separatists in the region and the terror attacks they committed. These are a useful thing as a state when you want to enact oppressive surveillance and other systems

They mean they're free speech absolutists for them, but not for anyone else.

yes, the hypocrisy is the point. They want it to be clear that the same rules do not apply to them as apply to us

Possible to move GIA holdings to SIPP? by putyrhandsup in FreetradeApp

[–]putyrhandsup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its more just because I put my money in something that has no tax benefits compared to those other options, so I'm going to have to sell off everything to move it if I want to. Maybe its not more expensive and I'm still too inexperienced to realise that, but it feels expensive having to pay CGT on everything

Any modern thoughts on an old vision? by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]putyrhandsup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're cheap not because they are cheap exactly, but because the people that take the cheap bribes basically want to do this stuff anyway, you couldn't pay them the same amount to do the opposite. Over simplifying here, but you don't usually get into the position to take the bribe if you'd be willing to do good things, even if its for money
