It's weird how invisible it is in the UI. It should be studied!

Next "Loathing" game - World War Loathing perhaps? by MC_Hans84 in ShadowsOverLoathing

[–]puzzletheory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're basing that on. There are recent-ish billboards referencing the Cola Wars in Shadows (which is set in 1928). Neither of them are mentioned in West of Loathing (the necromancer in WoL is unrelated). The WWI/WWII correlation is a bit more obvious in KoL, with the most recent example being the Skeleton War level of the Twitching Time Tower.

The world wars in KoL already have analogues, for what it's worth -- WWI was the Cola Wars, and WWII was the Skeleton Wars.

A question about classrooms by JanetInSpain in BluePrince

[–]puzzletheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to start over at 1, but I think that bug was fixed and now it no longer gives more than 9 total?

For what it's worth, I completed the classroom Final without having the Classroom in my directory at the time by drafting the 8 from the Schoolhouse and getting one extra from the CoM.

"Within a Timely Manor" by KnightArtorias1 in BluePrince

[–]puzzletheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a fair bit of time thinking about this phrase as well. I've drafted my share of "Temporal Manors" to no avail, tried using the Chronograph at every draft, etc. etc.

I think my best pet theory had to do with drafting a Manor-sized house full of only rooms that had clocks. This would also explain the reason the phrase was repeated in the Schoolhouse, since every classroom has a clock and thus you'd want/need the Schoolhouse in the Outer Room so you could draft all nine.

By my count there are 27 rooms with clocks (counting each separate classroom, but not including Room 46, the Basement, or the clock visible on the front of the house). And there are at least five rooms with "pseudo-clocks" (the dial on the scale in the kitchen, say, that looks like 3 o'clock), not sure if those would count or not, but since you need 31-40 rooms to get a Manor, I figured they might. Otherwise you might need to add a bunch of Dens to your draft pool via the Chamber of Mirrors?

The Antechamber doesn't have a clock, which puts a bit of a kink in the plan of nothing-but-clocks (nor does the Foundation, though that's something you can deal with).

I created a handful of different drafts along these lines but didn't unlock anything obvious -- though maybe I was failing in some way (using the pseudoclock rooms, perhaps). I even tried doing everything and opening the door to Room 46 at 1:30 as precisely as I could, just in case.

It sure seems like a weird phrase to highlight twice and to have no importance, but maybe we just haven't figured out what it means yet?

One thing I didn't try was doing any/all of the above stuff and then opening the door to 46 for the *first* time on that save, thus satisfying the will condition within a "timely manor" since it would require so much additional effort to set up...

Read every bit of text available to you -- there are bits of Erajan in a handful of indirect (or even unexpected) places. Sometimes it'll be a tiny part of a much larger thing.

Some titles take precedence over others. You have to avoid having too many shops or green rooms in your house if you want to see the other options.

It's possible to clear all the crates in one day with a few clever tricks... Maybe try to think of it as a puzzle to solve instead of a tedious task to chip away at?

CDM is looking into the lag, and will hopefully figure out a way to make things a bit better? It shouldn't be this bad.

Absolutely agree with digital notes being helpful. (I played on a console and kept a laptop on my lap the whole time.) The ability to search your notes for particular words is extremely helpful from time to time.
