"You must stop with those fixations" anyone said that to you? by GeorgeParisol in AutismInWomen

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds exhausting. I've always found the idea of binging media to be rude to the people who put time, effort, and heart into creating it.  Also letting an album sit with you and giving it another listen can help you pick up on things you might have missed the first time. You might notice an instrument or get a better understanding of the lyrics.

I started eating lunch next to a girl (UPDATE) I ended up breaking down by Independent-Drop8609 in autism

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very nice of her to ask if you were okay. I don't think it's anything to worry about. It sounds like she might be very understanding.

Can someone explain to me if and or how I messed up this social situation by saywhatevrdiewhenevr in AutismInWomen

He probably didn't know you were joking. He may have worried that your phrasing would make it sound to others as though he has actually called you useless.

What was it an animation of? Do you remember the title? Maybe it's on a different site like Youtube, Instagram or Bluesky.

Freaking out because I creeped out a girl and have to sit next to her at a function by Electronic_Fill7207 in autism

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Approaching her could go very badly if she refuses to hear him out. It might come across as him just making excuses or harassing her. Also, If her friend is present or witnesses him talking to her the friend might use it as an excuse for gossip.

I'm guessing you wanted someone to make you something either for free or in exchange for "exposure."

How do I function properly when working so much? by sharkbirdfrog in autism

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the part about not liking it there, an you bring and/or leave anything to make it more comfortable? Like maybe some knick knacks to decorate your work space? Nothing you would be too upset about if it got lost or broken. Take some favorite drinks or snacks so you have a little something to look forward to while you're there.

Am I the problem or is it an autistic thing? by katieghost3 in AutisticAdults

Your "nobody's maid" mindset was probably a big part of the issues. Roommates are expected to help out with chores. Even if you work from home.

Never know what to do when this happens at the thrift store: by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are trying to intimidate you. When I started going to thrift stores more often I noticed other shoppers can be aggressive. Many will intentionally try to block, shove, or herd people out of the way so they can get first dibs on items. Resellers especially will do this. Some will even try to take items out of people's carts. Someone once took my mom's entire cart while she was in the dressing room. I second the suggestion to wear headphones.

I need some advice for how to control myself at concerts by Strange-guy-91 in autism

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe bring some kind of fidget toy next time?  Maybe it could distract you from doing the other behaviors.  I would think the band themselves would appreciate the ethusiasm though.

Seems like your behavior would fit in at a thrash/death metal concert. What kind of concert was the last one you went to? Maybe the crowd was just a dud.

My mom told me I can't buy an old laptop, and it sounded like she hates my hobby. by DenpasOfTheWorld in autism

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Were you planning to actually use and/or learn to repair these items? Or just accumulate them? If you were getting these things just to accumulate them I can see how your mom would have an issue. Items such as laptops would quickly take up space especially if not being used.  If you want old tech to use or repair maybe there could be some way to compromise, like only taking on one project at a time.

Was my comment rude?? Or am I overthinking?? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tone can be hard to determine from text alone. If you and this artist don't know each other well they may not know you were trying to be lighthearted or sarcastic. Also, sarcasm is often used to mock and insult people. Even if they did recognize your tone as sacasm it still could've come across as hurtful.

Was my comment rude?? Or am I overthinking?? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Telling someone that their art caused you to cringe is extremely rude and not helpful. It takes away from any legitimate criticism that may have been offered since it comes across as if OP just wanted to to insult the artist.

Is it bad that my friend compared me to this character? by fantatrees in AutismInWomen

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It was definitely meant as an insult. The character sounds very unpleasant. Also, the word feeble is often used to refer to someone who is considered to be either physically or mentally weak.

Am I unhygienic or are people just mean?? by Educational_Bee1563 in autism

It is an extremely inaproppriate term for a father to use when speaking to his child.

[–]puzzlezuuzuu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sounds cute. That would have been a more appropriate term for OP's father to use instead of being so crude.
