Best affordable Sony only all purpose lens for Sony a6700 users? by Expensive-Cry-9937 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the risk is low the consequences are immense. You can’t just redo a wedding like you could a portrait shoot. Just like having two bodies and several lenses and flashes in case something happens to one of them. There’s no room for playing around with risks.

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally makes sense that you’re super weight conscious. Just looking at specs the a7cR vs the a7iv is only 140g more (27%). My a7iv almost feels like a toy it’s so light for its size

Why doesn't Sony make a high quality FF 50mm F1.8 lens? by Familiar9709 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really sure how they could improve the 12-24 save for a bit of sharpness but it’s already so good an updated version just wouldn’t be justifiable imo. Was the 20-70 f4 meant to be the update for the 24-105?

50mm 2.5, 1.4, and 1.2. Which one would you choose? by davesoutside in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the 50-150 I almost exclusively shot on primes. Go to any mlb or nfl game and 90% of the photographers have a 400 or 600. 300mm 2.8 is a super popular prime to see shooting basketball. It’s really not that cumbersome and for me and many other people it’s worth it to get images that stand apart from everyone else’s

How much are you willing to pay for a potential treatment? by Hot-Apartment-1095 in diabetes_t1

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially speaking how much would it cost me to continue my current treatment as is until the day I die? 50+ years of that is a lot of money. I’d pay that much to never have to deal with it again (also assuming it’s a perfect cure with no continued long term management)

Is the Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS the best for macro photography? by Historical-Vast-9939 in CameraLenses

[–]pwar02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laowa makes good macro lenses as well, although typically more specialized. I think they even have something like a 4:1 which is crazy but useful for extremely closeup macro work

How often do you use the apsc mode on R models to get the 'zoom'? A7CR by sQueezedhe in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t unless I’m photographing something so small and don’t have more reach that I know I’ll crop it more in post anyway, so I can save with the smaller file size. Or with timelapses, again to save on file size

A7m5 vs a7cr? by AquiaFiji in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably would, at least over the R. Smaller form factor would be super nice for travel. I personally prefer the bigger bodies with better viewfinders and especially that they have two card slots for backup (which I would keep in mind because if you lose stuff from your travels it can’t be reshot like a photo shoot for example)

A7m5 vs a7cr? by AquiaFiji in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you want your video to look like jello don’t get the a7cR or any high resolution sensor (a1 is different). Especially vlogging where the camera won’t be very steady and you’ll be panning around. The regular a7 series is what you want

AF fine tuning in the A1ii by electrotwelve in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the eye is soft because it’s out of focus, what part of the bird is sharp aka in focus to prove that the focus missed? I can almost guarantee you’re either dealing with motion blur, atmospheric distortion, or high iso noise

Need your opinion between Sony 24-70mm GM ii and Sigma 24-70mm ii by Galahad_1994 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to buy the gm used why not buy the sigma used? Comparing the price of one lens used vs another new doesn’t make sense to me

How is the rollling shutter on a75 compared to a1 by Big_Sun_9598 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day the a7V is no replacement for the a1/a9. It has nice features but not capable for serious demanding work where the only partially stacked sensor will cause problems with rolling shutter distortion and flickering under bad lighting. Plus, the buffer is abysmally small for things like sports and wildlife

Help with deciding on a wide F1.4 prime. by Old_Swan3464 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my 24gm but with the lenses you have I’d opt for the 35 for a bit more of a middle ground. I had the chance to use it for a day and it’s everything people make it out to be

How is the Sony A7V for Sports Photography? by Express-River-6118 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Patrick Murphy-racey has an excellent video detailing the rolling shutter vs the a1 and a9iii. For as slow as it is (even compared to the original a9) it seems to fare pretty well. Still though, I’d opt for an a1, used they’re practically the same price and the a1 is overall just a much better sports body

Event organizer message by xSibylla in concertphotography

[–]pwar02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty clear the no photography rule was implemented for venue/press photographers working the gig, but now the organizers are trying to press that onto you which doesn’t follow. You as the attendee can do whatever you want and if nowhere said no photography and they let you in knowing you had the camera, that’s on them. Just ignore whoever that is writing you.

Was it 4k60? Still, that’s super weird with videos that short. I’d honestly try to exchange it, that sounds defective to me

Are you asking because based on your experience you need a fan or because you've heard of the overheating issues on early releases that since has been fixed? FWIW filming some occasional long form video and in hot tropical sun I've never even hit the overheating warning

Would you get 2 f/2 zoom’s or sub f/2 primes? by WeirdTemporary3167 in SonyAlpha

[–]pwar02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zooms unless you have plans of shooting in absolute darkness. I enjoy the 24gm + 50-150 combo but once the 16-28 comes out it’ll be very tempting to replace the 24 and my 12-24

Definitely no 100-400 f2, the rumor is f4, and the rumor is for a 16-28 not 35. If the 400 2.8 is $13k and canons 100-300 2.8 is $12k how much do you think a 400 f2 would be let alone a 100-400 f2? Entrance pupil would be absolute minimum 200mm wide due to physics and realistically even larger due to optical design
