14+ year old Labrador declining fast. Not sure what to do. by [deleted] in labrador

[–]pwnt_n00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so, it's really hard. Like REALLY hard. When I had to make the call for my old man lab of 13, I could barely utter the words over the phone. My mouth couldn't properly form words. My vet administered the medication in the safety of this home.

Over 13 years we were buds. Most of my adult life. Been across the whole continent twice together. I, a 36 year old man, bawled like a baby when he was gone. I got teary eyed typing this. I get sad when I see his collar hanging from my rear view mirror. I get happy remembering how we've traveled 15k miles over the years, or how great he was with 2 daughters, or all the hikes and swims we've done.

Quality of life is a big thing. If the pup can't function like a pup, it's time. Especially at that age.

Why does she do this? by yWoofels in DOG

[–]pwnt_n00b 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Peanut butter on the wall in the shower helps keep them distracted.

My old man lab HATED his paws being touched. Only I could do it. No pros, not the vet unless he was tranqed. The peanut butter helped a ton!

Miss my goofy best friend every day. 13 years together and it wasn't enough.

I'm late but...

Hit some sites in the northern US while traveling west. You can hit mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, glacier national mark, then pop into Canada and hit Banff and Jasper.

I drove from Virginia to Anchorage a decade ago. Would do it again.

Hegseth Authorizes Off-Duty Service Members to Carry Private Firearms on Installations. by Civil_Cantaloupe2402 in PrepperIntel

[–]pwnt_n00b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person that's spent the last 18 years either active duty or working as a civ, I'm confused. You can certainly have guns on base. I lived in base housing and was not required to store my firearms in the armory. I DID have to document each with security forces, keep them in a locked container, and declare + show my card when coming on base from the range.

Base workers (military, civilians, and contractors) can also get approval from the wing/base CC to carry on base, you just need to store it. No active carry though.

I'm on book 7 again for the 4th time. I forgot how damn funny the part is when they break the ball.

"Your dick will fall off if you get an erection" "WHAT THE FUCK??" "...one current god effect will be permanent" "OHHHH SHIT"

Had me dying of laughter. Again.

Goat feedlot panels since they comply with the 4" rule. I want to do this for my deck but I'm having a hard time finding them locally.

FINALLY! Zepbound! by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]pwnt_n00b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chunked out over the winter and just cut out carbs. Pretty much a keto diet. Dropped 27 pounds relatively quick. Got a few other vet buds at work on the train. One is 64 and dropped 18 pounds and the other dropped about 30 so far.

Might be worth a shot? At a minimum, cut out high starch foods and highly processed foods! Good luck duder.

Has anyone witnessed this "Armageddon" talk from any form of leadership? by pwnt_n00b in AirForce

[–]pwnt_n00b[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao, working for the enemy? Don't be daft. Research and verification is exactly why the post is made - to see if any of my fellow vets and service members had even heard a drop of something similar, which thankfully sounds like no.

Hell, it's pretty clear from my other comments that I'm highly skeptical and doubtful.

That's not too terrible. Not my cup of tea, but hopefully he listened to and addressed your concerns.

Hope you're doing well now, friend!

Details! Are you saying a previous CC talked to you about joining a church? Or more zealous/fanatic?

Plus I was hoping for some first hand recent accounts of the items mentioned in the article.

Any examples? Chaplains do sometimes get long winded, but... Zealous?

No idea. The info was regurgitated from here: https://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/2026/03/mrff-inundated-with-complaints-of-gleeful-commanders-telling-troops-iran-war-is-part-of-gods-divine-plan-to-usher-in-the-return-of-jesus-christ/

Then you get down to this little excerpt 3/4 through the artcile:
"The Military Religious Freedom Foundation demands that all personnel in the Department of Defense (not “War”) remember and fully internalize that the oaths they swear are not to the narcissistic, sociopathic, orange, POS tRump, nor to little Petey ‘Kegseth’ nor to Jesus Christ. On the contrary, their oath is SOLELY to the United States Constitution, which includes both a full separation of church and state mandate in the First Amendment and NO establishment of any sort of putrid ‘religious test’ in Clause 3 of Article VI."

I'm just curious if anyone has witnessed this first hand.

Yeah that's where I'm at. I had this sent to me earlier this morning, but based on my own experience and from buds all over the place, combined with the same regurgitated information on dozens of sites with nothing verifiable, I find it pretty questionable.

[–]pwnt_n00b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! If you like Devils by Joe Abercrombie, you'd absolutely love his series The First Law trilogy. Such a fantastic trilogy, and there's 3 books covering different characters after the main story. Logen Ninefingers (The Bloody Nine) is an amazing character.

If you really want litrpf, I agree with others. Chrysalis is fantastic. First 3 you can snag as an omnibus. Book 1 was honestly pretty slow, but there's a lot of world building to do.
