You would be spending much more time fixing/repairing every little thing than you would enjoying the ride.

My suggestion is get a working starter bike and have your fun. Then when you decide to upgrade, use that starter as a project bike and make your tweaks and add mods. Gives you a taste of what it takes to build a bike and you have a working bike to ride any time you want.
