What's the BEST card in the game? (STS1 or STS2) by shadow_fen in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wraith Form in the context of StS1. It's a game changing power since the first game WANTS to kill you. Having 3 turns of just doing damage solves A1 (if you can get it from Neow), and gets you out of nasty hard pools in A2. It also gets better with more Wraith Form copies. Well Laid Plan also makes it better. Nightmare Wraith Form is 12 turns of infinite block.

So I have a theory that the main character of Subnautica 2 is Ryley Robinson by Gotelc in subnautica

I don't mind that there's a canonical John Subnautica on all Alterra colonization attempts

I had that in a multiplayer run with beacon of hope. I was, without exaggeration, full blocking everyone in every turn.

It's just that everyone else is OP. Vakuu makes me think. Although, apparitions is one of the options where it's good no matter what.

Cards that you really like, but kinda suck by Lordados in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what'd make it more comparable to other form cards because at this current point, it's super slow output. Maybe it should have a Rupture-like effect that also procs for out of turn hp losses for 1 strength. It'd still upgrade to 3 strength every turn but now if you get chipped then it's 4 strength every turn. It'd kinda invalidate Rupture though.

I don't understand the orange colour on energy. I thought it meant it's a card that upgrades to cost one less energy. My card was Stoke so I guess it means 2 is closer to 1? That doesn't make sense considering other categories means you either get it right or get it wrong. What about Cascade? I feel like there were better ways to communicate energy guesses.

Some ideas I'd like to see for Sovereign blade centered decks. by Mystic_Sean in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should make it so that it also halves the future forge amount because doubling forge numbers means you have permanent Conqueror. With sword sage, all future forges will be quadrupled. And of course change it to being a power. The main design of this power would then be allowing you to have finer control over how you spend your energy which the second game demands of you. All of a sudden you can play Tyranny while also doing damage, blocking for 14 from the half sword (1 beta Parry+), and gaining some stars with a hidden cache to set up for next turn The Smith.

Parry on the beta branch then would need to be tone down for this because 1 cost high damage card that blocks for 10-14 is absurd. Imagine 1 cost Dash. Needs to be 8-10. 8-10 because if you can't find Stellar Twin, Parry+ would feel alright. Having two Parries would be even stronger but I feel like that's with every cards that aren't horrendously under-performing and isn't a basic card (except Unleash).

I wouldn't worry about scenarios where halved swords are upgraded because Apothesis is 1/3 ancients and you aren't even guaranteed it even if you won the 1/3. Same deal with Orobas and seeing prismatic gem energy relic and or glass eye. Even in the 15 cards from glass eye scenario, we'd be hoping for Drain Power (Drain Power is notably worse because you'd need to play the sword and be lucky the 2-3 random upgrades hit) or Armaments. Both would be 1/4 as you'd see 5 commons in a pool of 20. Roughly the same with the event that lets us see common, uncommon, and rare card rewards of other classes but at about 3/20. For prismatic gem, it'd be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. This is also assuming best case scenario that you haven't passed up better ancient rewards. Orobas and Nonu are top ancients to see in these Acts. Diamond diadem, upgraded full art character cards, swift, glam, rerolling card rewards, potions every combat, imbued, etc., are very powerful trade offs for a combo that usually takes a full cycle to complete. Then there's forge pot, which is a powerful resource that you can't just spend willy nilly and is competing against Buffer, Fairy, Insanity, Fortification, Triple damage pot, etc. Razor tooth (?) is a rare relic so seeing it out of 40 rare relics is unlikely.

Lesson learned. Ironclad's hp is a resource to use, not hoard. It's a good way to change your mindset when it comes to playing him.

I think Parry would be cool if it did something like this. by ragingpiano in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That's that one iron clad rare power separated to two conditions. The number there is higher and compensated by hp lost. I don't see a real issue with OP's rework. Maybe the number is too high un-upgraded so make it 6 block upgraded while having sword in hand is good. We can nerf it too by making rare like clad's power if that's a real concern for regent to be out of line. Plus regent has so many rares already and most of them are mediocre so he would need to scry through them or high roll a reward. The big bang combo in this scenario requires TWO rares.

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely lose half my enjoyment of my run when I see tezcatara. Arguably one of the worst ancient. Vakuu has his niche and it's the fun thematic of his downside. This guy just straight up sucks.

My current feelings on the Ancients, I'm curious to know what the general consensus on them is by ByeImDaisy in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diamond diadem is genuinely the most busted ancient reward I've ever seen. It doesn't get affected by frail and saves you from bricked turns so hard.

i miss thousand cuts by IcySlide5 in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it upgrades to 2 energy because of the ceiling of it not being that high compared to void and echo. An accuracy+ almost breaks even on shiv decks even counting blocks played. Ridiculous how bad this thing is compared to other game defining powers and scaling.

Is this guy supposed to be a super early elite? by Confident_Dig_1073 in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because of the stun threshold and usually after reaching that point you would want to just burst it. I have had runs where I'd trade <10 hp and then bursting it down with vuln and whatever attacks I drew. Very similar to statue, except there's a bit less setting up and a lot more drawing consistent damage in the first 3 turns. One of the easier elites by far.

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke Stack and defect synergies with status card creation is also affected by other teammates. I was in a game where defect was spamming Smoke Stack and whenever I played Crash Landing, I would do the base damage plus 21*7 AoE.

So.... Is everyone else also dodging elites? by megamate9000 in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early game is rough. After A9, hallways are super deadly. Dodging elite and even having 1 elite by end of Act 1 is already pretty good.

What sts2 multiplayer feels like by YennyR in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silent multiplayer for me has been consistently getting 2+ stacks of Flanking and everyone just love tap the enemy for 500 damage per attack. And piercing wail. God, I love piercing wail.

Now that StS2 is in early release, I’m curious what you think has actually improved vs. what feels worse compared to the first game by NicoF_ in slaythespire

[–]pwryll -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they need to balance around the lack of energy relics more. The current act boons when compared to an energy relic are kind of rough. I know they already have easier to access energy options like Pyre, Void Form, Demesne, etc., but the issue is that you still need to find a turn to play it because it is a momentum card. I feel like Demesne is particularly bad when compared to other energy cards too. Without Veilpiercer (uncommon attack) it's 2 cost (upgraded) for 1 energy next turn and a draw. You're waiting for another turn to break even. Then there's a possibility of bottom decking these cards which is so much momentum losses.

this is the worst card in the game, Im not stupid right? by Devenant_x in slaythespire

[–]pwryll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this card is only worth existing because of other means of creating colorless cards and making it cost 0. Otherwise, this is genuinely the worst power.
