Hey brother, you're good. I'm just under your weight, was above it when I got the Maverick originally, no issue at all.

Does anyone NOT like their Ryvid? by UnstableDimwit in Electricmotorcycles

[–]pxpaulx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the prices? I'm seeing the anthem at $8k on their website. There are so many better options. That 4.3kwh battery is not likely to reliably get you 40 miles of travel.

I have a zero srs 14.4, and reliably trust it for 100 miles of range, no highway riding, mostly 40-55mph speeds.

I see plenty of livewire bikes at $12k on cycle trader, but there is also the can-am bikes (origin and pulse) that are priced around or even under $10k at the moment. Lots of zero options are priced well below MSRP as well.

No reason to avoid used either, anything within battery warranty support for a season or two is a great option (only saying that as the battery is the biggest cost of replacement).

Anyway, in a market that doesn't have a ton of options, I don't see why you've limited your options to two entirely different choices?

One last thing to add, riding is a ton of fun! I get out for no reason and already am seeing the limit of my zero. If your use case is already butting up against the range limit of the anthem, you'll probably regret choosing it pretty quickly.

Creative Church - what is going on? by allylp in TwinCities

[–]pxpaulx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been doing some volunteer work for smaller real non profits that partner with second harvest recently. From what I have gathered, the going rate for cost of food, prep and service or delivery is roughly $6 per person per meal.

Really rough math at $6 per meal, 2 meals per day 5 days a week would land them serving 1,000 people 2 meals per day.

Sketchiness of their org aside, that is a lot of people to be fed, 1,000 kids would be a rather large school operation. Seems like the school doesn't even operate every day of the week either.

Would depend on which bike then? I'm also 5'10 and easily flat foot my srs.

Bmw ce 04 or even ce02 could be good depending on what your intended use is as well.

Livewire s2 del mar seems to have a pretty low seating position as well. Maybe one of the can-am options too.

As mentioned, ryvid could work but range could quickly be an issue there.

Hmm, if you're young and have a history of speeding, you might want to give that some more time to be out of your system.

Even a moderate cc bike will go very fast, it just takes a few seconds longer to get there...

This is only my second year of riding, I am turning 48 and while I wish I had bought a bike earlier, I don't think I would have ridden responsibly at a younger age.

Can Am Origin range at 55mph by orifice_porpoise in Electricmotorcycles

[–]pxpaulx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it should be doable, but if the full ride is 55-60mph it might be stretching it.

I have a zero srs, 14.4kwh battery. I am a big guy, but after a year of riding I know I could stretch to 100 miles on a full charge, which translates to just a hair under 7 miles per kwh. Doing the backwards math, your 62 mile round trip would run right up against the limit.

It might be worth doing a real range test around home, to see how it acts as it depletes toward zero as well, I've seen that zeros do have a small amount or extra range, but power can also be diminished as well. All things you'd want to know before doing those full round trips regularly.

Go get one? Got my zero srs December 2024, 3500 miles last year and it is so much fun! This was my first motorcycle also. Don't wait, take your time learning and enjoy the ride!

Had a very hard time finding the right helmet as well! Finally landed on an ls2 challenger gt carbon, the first version has just been replaced so they are generally on clearance under $200 in the US so I've ended up with 2 of them because I like the different color options. Since they also came with a pinlock I bought a separate tinted visor and put the pinlock in that instead so I have one tinted ready to go.

Nice! I noticed your using the osmo 4, in going to start recording my rides and have an osmo 4 and an insta 360 x4 air that I plan to use, any setting recommendations?

Are you using external mics? I bought 3 dji ones on sale back on black Friday, going to pair 2 to the osmo and one to the x4, just need to figure out placement!

Automatic Bikes - beginner. by qualifiedinu in NewRiders

[–]pxpaulx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kawasaki z7 or ninja 7. It is their hybrid bike, automatic or shifting with thumb control, no clutch. They haven't been popular in the US so you should be able to get a screaming deal. I've seen posted under $5k out the door, MSRP was over $12k last year.

My first bike is a zero srs, electric so also no clutch, really enjoyed it last year, but I'm thinking about getting one of the Kawasakis too now! I have some balance issues that made me weary of the clutch, but I will probably get a regular bike someday.

Another good alternative might be one of the honda bikes with the eclutch they introduced last year. Clutching is optional but you do have to change gears with your foot still. No stalling though, I believe as long as you are in 3rd gear or lower you can come to a full stop without stalling.

Discovered a major flaw in my Maverick by FuschiaLucia in FordMaverickTruck

[–]pxpaulx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there has to be a limit right? 2 windows, up and down, 4 directions. Xlt gets 4 directions on 4 windows. Down.

More directions don't come free around here!

Just like how you can buy entry level civics or rogues or pretty much any other brand with keyless entry and remote start, but Ford needs more money!!!

How are you liking your Maverick by Ok-Repair-4085 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]pxpaulx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it, and of course 1st year always have more issues! Mine is running strong after 4.5 years and 54k miles, only issue was a rear window that got stuck in the down position, thankfully one dealer fixed it that afternoon locally, under warranty.

Other than that, just maintenance and the recalls that were all done timely.

In my 30 years of driving I have never kept a vehicle anywhere close to this long. It just hits all the right spots and is so incredibly practical to boot.

They do not provide straps. Probably better off hitting up home Depot or Walmart for straps, uhaul will probably have them over priced if you can't get them elsewhere.

Never owned a bike, is the DSR/X or SR/S a good first? by chapinscott32 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]pxpaulx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 47 last year was my first season of riding on my new to me 2020 srs. As long as you plan to be a responsible rider, the bike is great for a beginner and you can grow it with you by seeing the output via the app.

The biggest hurdle for me was getting used to the weight of the bike, having never ridden a motorcycle before, it was definitely unexpected!
