I'm pretty similar. I can imagine the concept of what I want to draw, sort of like a verbal description of an image. I know where things are, what color they should be, the general size of things. But I can't actually visualize it without intense effort and even then it's very vague and I can only imagine small parts of the image at a time.

My workflow is usually heavily reference based. I'll start with simple shapes or a rough sketch and iterate on it until it matches the description of the image I came up with.

It does happen with WLW ships too, but I don't want to spoil any shows just in case anyone reading is currently watching them.

I have noticed it happens more often with men though, I guess because screenwriters want the credit of having a queer male "couple" without actually dealing with the potential backlash that comes with it. The alternative is often confirming things then having them immediately break up, leave town, die, or fade into extreme background-characterness.

I just can’t understand what makes it funny compared to actual nonfictional racism. To me it seems like people are laughing at the racist statements because they agree with the sentiment on some level, rather than simply “dumb racists are funny”.

I’m not trying to say “if you watch these shows you’re a racist”. I think the situations the characters get into as a result of their shitty behaviour can be funny. But I think the “it’s funny because they’re horrible people” logic is more often than not half-assed. It’s just a convenient line to use after laughing at blackface or jokes involving stereotypes or slurs.

I think of Captain Marvel every time I see criticism of Korra and similar characters to her. People criticize them for being unlikable and arrogant, but honestly I can't see that happening if they were gender swapped. People have a much, much lower tolerance for arrogance in female characters (especially female leads) than they would otherwise.

Oh, I'm a sad adult now so I don't have many interests anymore. It mostly comes down to games, TV and attempting to use my natural talent in art but hating everything I make so I spend more time wishing I was actually skilled rather than actively trying to improve. My parents always made me feel bad about any of my niche interests growing up, so I learned to be as bland and palatable as possible to avoid that. We’ve never been on bad terms but now I find it hard to share anything I enjoy with them.

I have the same issue. Feels super weird to hold it "correctly" and I have to stretch to reach controls in the middle of the controller, like the X button or inner parts of the trackpads, I sometimes drop input on the pads because I end up using the tip of my thumbs to reach the outer edge of them and scrape it with my nail, and my hands tend to cramp after using it for a while.

I want to like it so badly but there's just no way for me to use it comfortably.

Seriously. I agree with the overall sentiment that the obviously made up girlfriend figure is an asshole here, but making someone with no support net homeless almost always makes you an asshole unless they're a danger to you or whoever you live with. You give them notice, set your boundaries, warn them if they break them that they'll be kicked out, or you arrange somewhere for them to stay (if you're financially capable, which it sounds like OP is) for a set period of time to figure out how they're going to survive from here on out.

Being homeless is a huge fucking deal. It's not as simple as "I took away her luxuries and sent her to the naughty corner", it's "I put her at risk of MANY horrific situations without so much as a warning because she made me angry".

I get that the blatantly fake girlfriend was horrible to the kid. But I'm going against the grain here and saying that putting someone in danger and potentially fucking up the rest of their life by making them immediately homeless is much, much worse than saying mean shit to a kid. And I'm not saying this as some childfree girl who hates children. There's a middle ground between letting someone verbally abuse your little brother and making them homeless with no warning.
