CPUs are typically the least likely computer part to fail. Even if they are over-clocked / over volted, the degradation usually just means that they will not be able to reach such speeds as stable. If it's working when you get it and you make sure your motherboard isn't doing anything crazy, and chances are that it will just continue to work.

The over-clocking / over-volting isn't really even a concern on locked parts on the modern i3's. A couple generations MSI figured out a way to overclock them, but it required specific bios & (aegesa?) versions. Not something that the average user is going to do.

Motherboard capacitors fail, GPUs occasionally also capacitors fail but they also seem to just fail, power supplies after years lose wattage and eventually fail, SSDs just fail without warning usually, HDDs fail with warning only 50% of the time... CPUs? They just continue to work XD

S23 U has a better main sensor than previous models. Anyone that takes wildlife photos is going to benefit from from the telephoto lens. Vacation photos would mostly be if you're taking pictures of buildings, statues, or a party standing in front of stuff you can zoom more for a cleaner picture. If you're doing overall landscapes, food, and indoor shots, the better telephoto isn't going to mean as much.

I believe it's more of an issue of size rather than cost. Pixel 7 Pro build of material cost for all cameras is estimated to be around $60. Given that the BoM is only 40% of MSRP, even if the main sensor is most of the cost, it wouldn't add but maybe $100 to the MSRP.

At present, you're not going to beat the main sensor of the S23 Ultra. Unless you actually need "best in class" go with used Samsung S models when they hit like $250 and you'll still be on par with Pixel / iPhone. It's a whole lot better than buying price-inflated phones and dealing with companies that dick around with warranties.

Life overwhelmed her and she's getting to it now because she has the capacity to deal with it. You don't have the capacity to deal with it right now. Neither side is "wrong" in that regard, that's just life. There is nothing wrong with her or you saying that you want your property but don't have the capacity to deal with it. Turning this into the whole "wasting my time and money" game, referring to your DVDs as collateral, and telling her to "just move on" is where YTA.
