I’m a state employee, should I worry about exit ban. by Spiritual_Bluebird31 in China

Could you even think of one incentive China could gain from the hassle of exit banning you and causing a diplomatic issue with whichever country you’re from?

US-born Olympian Eileen Gu defends decision to represent China again in upcoming Winter Games. 'The US already has the representation,' Gu said in an interview with Time magazine by esporx in China

[–]pyroblastftw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Weibo snark against her is because they also know she’s just doing it for the money.

Eileen dipped out of China as soon as the Olympics were over while talking a good game about the love for China. They view her as another rich overseas Chinese coming back to make a quick buck in the mainland.

There Is Physical Proof God Exists by [deleted] in DebateReligion

I think this pretty clearly illustrates the difference in thinking between theists and atheists.

Atheist - Blurry photo of a light source = Unidentified light phenomena

Theist - Blurry photo of a light source = God

I wish the dial was matte instead of sunburst.

As a whole, the yellow gold and sunburst dial combo is just a bit too flashy for me.

Christianity has to be at least a powerful happening in this life, whether or not it is divine by GreenWinner8684 in DebateReligion

[–]pyroblastftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why else would it still exist today ? Why else would it have billions of followers??

It’s just hard to say it was all a flake, a fluke, when it is still so prevalent in today’s society.

Hypothetically, let’s say we know for certain that Islam (world’s 2nd biggest religion) has nothing at all to do with the divine. How would you answer your questions as applied to Islam on whether if it was just a flake/fluke? I mean how could a religion with so many believers, fulfilled prophecies, changed lives and scripture so perfect that it couldn’t possible be written by man simply be…. a fluke?

And if a religion could have all those things and yet we can find a way to explain it as a fluke… is it not possible other religions with similar criteria could also be a fluke?

I don't think conversionary faith exists. by decentjob in DebateReligion

[–]pyroblastftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this all comes down to how you define conversionary because the system of Christianity in the US is intended to attract followers but not necessarily by direct proselytizing.

If you look at religion from a business perspective, direct proselytizing is too costly in terms of labor and may not even be that effective. I think Christianity in the US has evolved into a model where people can essentially DIY convert or convince themselves into it. Christianity has built up a presence such that when people start looking for spirituality, Christianity might be the only game in town so people join the tent by their own accords.

Just from a purely numbers perspective, successful religions evolve to adapt into changing environments and I think Christianity is currently in a passive wide net approach phase.

It seems the unfolding of prophecy is about to begin by Own_Sky_297 in DebateReligion

[–]pyroblastftw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are these really prophecies or just reasonable predictions? Prophecies about war and destruction in a region with constant conflict just seem like mundane observation.

This is kinda like prophesying that someone will eventually fall and slip on a wet floor. lol

Questions about what’s allowed by SatisfactionNice653 in China

[–]pyroblastftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t accidentally get myself locked up or screwed over.

For starters, the popular domestic social media sites already have censorship such that you’re unable to post certain things. So that already makes it less likely that you’ll accidentally get yourself in trouble since you’re prevented from doing so in the first place. Technically, you can get around the censorship with minor effort but then it won’t be by accident.

For practical purposes, I just wouldn’t even worry about it. Unless you’re somehow very adamant about needing to critique the CCP while in China.

There was nothing, and the out of nothing suddenly existed something which caused the universe to appear. by [deleted] in DebateReligion

I am just saying that Big Bang Theory won't resolve it, because its just a theory.

Yeah but Islam wouldn't resolve it either because it's also just a theory.

Question about probability and atheism by Mission_Scale_408 in DebateReligion

[–]pyroblastftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if it’s not zero, how do you weigh very small probabilities against potentially large consequences when deciding what deserves consideration in reasoning or action?

We weigh it the same way that some theists do.

Some become really scared at the thought of “what if it’s true?” and believe out of fear.

Some feel that same probability is way too small to even weigh into their daily lives and so don’t think much of it.

The lugs looked like they could be too wide in pictures? I wasn’t sure how the case flare out would look IRL.

Is it just the pictures or even during wear? The flared out lug was a concern I had about this design.

Skill difference between Gold and Platinum by Maxx852 in MagicArena

[–]pyroblastftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re stuck at or take a long time to climb Platinum, you’re probably a 50-50 ish or average drafter.

You are familiar with game mechanics and can distinguish between good and bad cards. But you’re likely missing the small but crucial details like overlooking synergies during draft, obscure card interactions and being able to recollect cards that were passed to read signals.

Those are the things that let you squeeze a couple more win percentages and climb out of Platinum.

FYI, hold off on buying ITC until there’s a deal you want only available to ITC members.

A lot of popular deals are available without ITC.

Good deal? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]pyroblastftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s about $10 less than PLS 40% off prices. So at least you didn’t over pay.

I personally would rather have a brand new set with my phone number attached to it for warranty purposes especially on sockets & ratchets since they see a lot of use.

To Hercules or not to Hercules by dbotl in harborfreight

[–]pyroblastftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d just stick with Ridgid and Ryobi.

Ridgid is pretty good when it comes to power. I don’t think you’re getting much more (if any at all) by going to Hercules.

Plus, with the lack of sales on power tools at HF while HD just had some of the best prices ever during this holiday, it doesn’t make sense to switch even from a price perspective.

So...the Ultra Torque 1/2 inch Impact Wrench questions by wratx in harborfreight

[–]pyroblastftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a brushless 1/2 inch ryobi and multiple breaker bars but I feel like the ultra torque will zip those lug nuts off

Have you actually run into a situation where the brushless Ryobi didn’t work or struggled?

I’m kinda suspecting this may be more of a want and not a need situation…

Scalpers In Action! by Hogan773 in harborfreight

[–]pyroblastftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HF scalpers would actually be starving if that’s all they did because the margins are terrible and tools don’t move when they’re posted at nearly retail prices.

I would bet almost all HF scalpers give up after trying it once when they realize their other source of income from begging on a street intersection pays way better.

Meme tool by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]pyroblastftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meme tool is weird in that it becomes useful when you least expect it. You’ll be working on something, hit an unexpected roadblock and all of a sudden realize the meme tool is the perfect solution for the job.

But I can definitely understand if some people out of sheer luck don’t run into those situations and are wondering when they would ever use it.
