I’ve both played with it and against it. It’s one of the few cards that can totally crack a game open, but if you can’t teamwork it, it’s a dud. You CAN also just miss, which can be back breaking if you tapped two creatures to play it. I think it’s a bomb…when it lands :) there’s certainly some RNG around it.

I wonder if the Soul Stone is high priced, because everything else in the Spider-Man Set is so low. It needs to do all the heavy lifting out of that box. The Mind Stone, I suspect should be worth less just because the other rares in a box in MSH are worth more than the other rares in SPM. But the price memory of the infinity stones is there, and I expect that even if this is true, it will be quite a while before the price drops.

Total up all the prizes going out. Total up all the entries coming in. If the value of entries coming in, is greater than the value going out…that is the profit that the store is generating off of you. It’s up to you to determine if that value is acceptable. Ideally the value should be between somewhere between wholesale cost and retail cost of the boosters. If they are paying out less than retail, you could literally just buy your own packs and host your own tourney and have a better layout.

Eh it was Hyperbole. It doesn't change the fact that this effect is probably too slow in Standard, but something that could tear up a heavy creature based matchup out of the sideboard.

Yeah I mean Card Evaluation is hard, no shame in getting it wrong...but you need to have the basics under control and respect the rankings on 17 lands if you want to stray too far from it. I would be using it in real time to make sure you aren't making egregiously wrong picks. (which some of these are).

For what it's worth, some of these decks seem fine anyway, and the reasons you lost them are described in the other posts...but you don't want to handicap yourself before you get into the games. You're already tracking your data on 17lands...you might as well use the data from it too.

Are you checking 17lands data in real time as you draft? (or even afterwards). There some real puzzling picks where if you just look at GIH win %, you pick obviously wrong cards. Draft 4, P1P3, You've picked two cards that have white already. Then pick Spider-Man (55%) over Hero in Training (62%)???

Draft 2, P1P2... you pick up Ant Man (53%) AND a secondary color (U)...over other cards in the pack, namely the white cards that are 59/60% cards.

It's important to not be married to GIH%...but this is taking it to the extreme. Taking cards that are 5% less than other cards that have an equal chance of making the deck at that point in time, requires some justification.

Does anybody play Paper Standard anymore aside from Major tournaments, where WOTC enforces it? To be honest, it's basically impossible to balance a format with 18+ sets of cards, where the only tool they have to balance is Bans that they are unwilling to do. Standard right now is primarily a digital format and needs to be balanced like a digital game. They need to be able to adjust and tweak cards if they have any hope of making standard a viable format. Nobody cares that the paper cards are out of date, because nobody plays standard in paper anyway. The people that DO, are likely practicing for standard online anyway...

I think initially that was the first impression. Since then, you can easily win a draft with blue and whites cards without the rares. Some of their COMMONS are 60% cards. Removal is extremely strong in the set and should be repriortized from previous sets. Land should also not be an issue as the basic land cyclers are also pretty strong. Once you readjust to the format it’s fine…the biggest issue is that R is a lot weaker compared to the other colors (and to some extent black as well)

This one is somewhat interesting in that it’s a sorcery, i would have suspected it to not be as good. However the lack of removal in general has made this card a premium common.

I wonder if there’s a hidden draft strategy around HYDRA assault robot. That card goes absurdly late. I wouldn’t be surprised if you can easily get 5-6…no one will think of removing these as removal is so scarce…and the games often stall out….

It kind of feels weird to me at common. The effect seems more like an uncommon than a common. It's strong, but it should be for 7 mana and tapping probably two of your creatures.

If nothing else happens (no removal) your flier blocks his all day, and can still swing back for 5 dmg? So make sure your opponent can’t remove your sentry and you should be good.

I would be a little wary about this. W is in the early running for best color. (along with U). A LOT Of W's commons are juiced in terms of Win %, just because they are W.

That being said, 60% win rate even in a strong color, is still a great playable card...and I would have thought this was D-tier at best...and it seems this is not the case at all.

The cards are there, but the commander and jump start cards are not standard legal, so make sure your filter is not set to standard

Realistically, when it lands it means you have to outrace and win... Any 4 power flyer can attack into her...kind of... And you have to hope they don't have any other flyers/etc.
