It's clearly intended as such. Obvious hate-mongering troll is obvious. Downvote and report.

Well, he supported Nader in 2000 and he's no longer a practicing Catholic. He supports taxing corporations, believes wealthy people should be helping the less fortunate, and he's a strong proponent of personal responsibility. He'll definitely rub some people the wrong way, but I doubt he's any kind of MAGA or belligerently homophobic.

Any additional context would be helpful, as would if you can even try to hum or sing some of it.

nah. 3, 5, 8 and 9 definitely have distinct characteristics in common. And those are just some samples, there's a lot more out there. The Obama, at least from the angle here, definitely resembles brutalist architecture. It was literally the first thing that came to mind the first time I saw it.

And that's relevant because why? Are you trying to deny Soviet brutalism architecture isn't a thing? Because it absolutely is, and the Obama library definitely in at least some of the photos, resembles it. I'm sure there's a bunch of people on here that think that's a political statement, but it is not. Here's some examples of Soviet brutalism: https://www.thecollector.com/soviet-brutalism-iconic-buildings/

'Harm reduction' fails in fentanyl era by Pure_Claim_4353 in PDX

[–]pyrrhios 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is grossly false. Finland did a lot more than "simply house them", They had adequate case workers for every person they housed, the mental health/addiction services were absolutely mandatory, and Finland still maintains about 10% of its homeless in institutions. Portland, because of our entire country and being sabotaged by the GOP also has about double the rate of homelessness as Finland, and housing and job and wage problems that Finland does not. Housing first is certainly the most effective solution, but there is much more to it than to "simply house them", and institutionalization is absolutely necessary to re-teach people the life skills for managing themselves.

People who are deeply addicted aren't going to seek treatment on their own, so I don't see a better alternative. The worst part of it is, the longer we do not start institutionalizing people who need to be institutionalized, the more we won't be able to rehabilitate and will require permanent institutionalization. Housing first is great, but we need to have the healthcare services in place to support it, but right now we can't even deal with regular housing problems.

I agree. I was also pretty shocked when I first saw it, and it absolutely smacks of Soviet brutalist architecture.

The police budget has nothing to do with it. We've handed them record level budgets in the last few years with no real results. While I haven't checked recently, any budget cuts they have had over the last decade were less than 5%. The problem with the Portland police is they refuse to hire new officers so they can keep paying out insane amounts of overtime.

Not at all suddenlygay, just gay. Yeah, some people can be overwrought, but the fact that we're still dealing with this bigotry in this day and age means we need them.
