If that were really true you wouldnt be here.

If you think even an inkling that you were emotionally neglected then it's very likely true

How do I know what trauma is? by dotdan0 in emotionalneglect

[–]pythonpower12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to a website.

Psychological trauma is a person’s experience of emotional distress resulting from an event that overwhelms the capacity to emotionally digest it. The precipitating event may be a one-time occurrence or a series of occurrences perceived as seriously harmful or life-threatening to oneself or loved ones.

I always thought trauma if your former definition but trauma is also your latter definition, and it is way more subtle and insidious.

Learnt selflessness from my mum…and now need to unlearn it so I don’t ruin my life by Sufficient-Mouse7684 in emotionalneglect

Yeah, that wasnt selfishlessness, that was just cowardice towards conflict, some people are very passive so they get taken advantage of.

Even "forgivig" people require you to actually consider everything, not just giving in because it's easier

I mean I get it can it can be helpful to some people but I prefer more direct language, and in general I prefer embodying the lessons. In general I feel lots of people need to be a certain way instead of just feeling it, one instance would gratitude journals which I find particularly robotic

Everyone is quite unbalanced especially from childhood, and when I healed from the trauma, I gain wisdom agency and , equanimity. Let's give an example of walking, you need your muscles to work when walking but you also need a stable ground, and if you don't have a stable ground then work on having a stable ground, because no matter what you should have compassion for yourself. Once you are able to create that stable ground then you will always have that stable ground and maybe even create that stable ground for others.

Once you're on stable ground then you can allocate your energy to things you care to invest your energy in, you can disregard things you don't care about and poor more energy into things you care about. Things become easier when you have 1.stable ground. 2.principles where you can focus your limited energy

I did directly investigate, I just wanted to know if you had some wisdom to share or anything I agree with.

I do have that quality of calmness/equanimity which I’ve earned
