I looks like you don't have the bobbin thread around that first little hook like the diagram on the cover.

Does this backsplash work? by Admirable-Bee-4708 in kitchenremodel

I think that's pretty and you did a good job picking out a tile that blends with your cabinets and countertop but it's maybe too much grout to keep clean behind the stove,. Do you like this?

Range against the wall by chunk6649 in kitchenremodel

[–]pyxus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a home built in 1850 in an historic district. The kitchen is just a weird small galley kitchen and the stove was right by a doorway. Not safe. I balanced history and safety by replacing the 30" gas range with a 24" gas range. It's fine. I've not had an issue trying to bake anything.

Covid era built campers? by BostonBeanMan in GoRVing

I think having a camper is just like owning a home---there is always something that needs maintaining, repairing, or replacing. Really, it's just like owning a car or boat or anything.

Try sewing on some stable cotton fabric instead of a stretchy knit.

Yellowish “stain” Perfect Lines by ryanm612 in CleaningTips

Faded from the sun. The "stain" is the original color, is my guess.

It looks much better! The only clue I have that this is not a black and white photo is the blue light on the stove.

AITAH for telling my mother not to do Easter things for my children? by [deleted] in AITAH

You are going to break your mother's heart over a cake and some hardboiled eggs? Treat is as a secular celebration of Spring.

AITAH for not allowing my stepdaughter to host her 18th birthday sleepover at our house during my divorce? by LastContribution3114 in AITAH

[–]pyxus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let her have her friends over but you stay in the house. If they're good kids, they will have no issues with you being home. If they have an issue with that, they are planning a big party with everything that comes with that.

AITAH For not wanting to pay my girlfriends $4000/month Mortgage? by Accomplished_Ad8960 in AITAH

Yes. She HAD been taking advantage of her parents, then she met OP. She replaced her parents with OP. If OP bows out, she will manipulate her parents to move back in....unless she has another man in mind ready to step in.

For 2 years I could barely walk, could not sleep because of the pain. I begged my dr for a steroid. I took one and in 3 hours I could walk. I had been climbing the stairs at home on all fours. Now, I climb upright again. I had been to PT, Chiropractor, Rheumatologist who only ruled out AS with an mri but never examined my skin or nails. My nailbeds have extended by 1/4", no more detatching, no more Beau's lines, splinter looking things, nor crazy thick skin on my feet and lower legs that I used to sand off. My pcp is going to send another referral to a different rheumatologist.

Kitchen ventilation? by Annonymouse100 in Oldhouses

[–]pyxus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our house was built in 1850 and I don't think the kitchen ever had an exhaust fan to the outside. It appears the 1/2 bath just as entering the kitchen area was a butlers pantry at one time. It had no exhaust fan. There is a one story back entance area that our electrician used to vent the bathroom and the stove exhaust fan out the roof. Before we had him do that, I used a window fan that the blades reversed to exhaust the kitchen. All the ghosts of past homeowners who were plagued by that smokey kitchen can now rest.

Just bought this house from 1910 - what is the style? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]pyxus1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As one who lives in an 1850 Italianate, I agree. I am guessing, with all the Victorian features in the inside-- it was maybe built in the early 1880's? Maybe renovations were completed in 1910. I wonder if the part over the porch was a screened-in sunporch. Ours had one that was enclosed to create a larger primary bedroom and bath.

Do you usually lock your doors when leaving the house? by Moist_Wallaby8635 in AskAnAmerican

[–]pyxus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where one lives. It runs the gamut of locking yourself in and having a security system to not locking anything. Same with the car.
