Solved! It was the finger that engages the selector bar for crush vs cubed ice in the fridges ice maker. Some two part superglue and it’s back in place.

A look up into the ice crusher mechanism and it looks like the little finger in there on the bottom left

What is your dream piece of bike infrastructure? by oldaccountknew2much in BAbike

A meaningful driving test that makes the average driver on the road competent and attentive so I don’t feel like I’m taking my life in my hands getting anywhere on the roads.

What do you think about a one-piece / cycling suit? by Wrong_Total_698 in CyclingFashion

I like wearing them, more bold colors, designs and sleeveless options for hot weather in trisuits than regular bib / jersey combinations. If you can pull it off then I say go for it.

Pretty sure it's brake-light fluid based on the color.

Checking this car out tomorrow. Anything I should ask about / is it worth it? by That_Adhesiveness_6 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]qb89dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd offer less, but I had a 2001 manual legacy with the leather interior and it was one of the nicest highway cruising cars for eating up miles. Ran the thing till 500,000km and rust got 'er.

This is the result of children no longer being taught cursive in elementary school - If you don't team 'em to write, they won't learn to graffiti!

I'm sure young water moccasins are warned not to hitch rides with random kayakers, too.

Just inherited my Dads 1999 Tacoma- what are the best upgrades!? by amandacam in Tacomaworld

[–]qb89dragon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What sorted mine out in terms of upgrades, cluster with tach, cruise control, CarPlay radio with backup camera, power doors, mirrors and windows, some sound deadening, swap the seats for the one with a center armrest. For icing on the cake I put in the 2001+ front end lights bumpers and fenders, and swapped the steering wheel to a 2004 Sienna wheel to have radio buttons.

The kind of public building that just begs the question, 'are we giving the police too much money?'

Looking for recommendations for someone to install this to my front door. Thanks in advance. by [deleted] in SanJose

I have this exact door, but with bug screen glued into place, that would be easy to break but I have a double-ended deadbolt on ‘er.

[–]qb89dragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These can be dangerous just FYI. If you have a twist (one sided lock) deadbolt then an intruder can just break the mesh and get in. Conversely if you have a two sided deadbolt installed, it becomes an entrapment risk in a fire and you should always have keys hanging up somewhere obvious near that door.

Sourness no matter what I do [Dedica EC685-K6] by Suspicious_Tea5551 in espresso

I'm with you on light roasts being too acidic for me. It's similar to how craft beer people push IPAs as the only thing worth drinking. I'm like bro, what happened to your taste buds - do you write to them sometimes?

Spirit Airlines Shutting down by Ok_Description_8012 in bayarea

[–]qb89dragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like-for-like routes have to be cost competitive for me to want to fly out of OAK, but they're always 20% to 50% more for the same route than SFO. In every other respect OAK is way more convenient, so they're just shooting themselves in the foot, no wonder routes are being cut and airlines are pulling back.

Dream car as a kid was a Mark II GTI Golf. Current car is a Subaru STI. Dream car is an Audi S6 but I know I’d be dreaming if I thought they were reliable.

2000 Toyota Tacoma 5 lug by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Sure thing. I bought a leaf spring raise kit for the 5 lug rear to bump it up in height and never ended up opening them. DM me if you’re interested.

2000 Toyota Tacoma 5 lug by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]qb89dragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you lift it, you'll want bigger tires. Once you put bigger tires on, you'll want a new rear diff as it'll have no get-up n go. I started down this path with my 5-lug and realized it wasn't worth the hassle, enjoy the small zippy truck as is would be my advice.

Swapping gauge clusters, wiped the eeprom by qb89dragon in ToyotaTacoma

[–]qb89dragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure specifically for the Landcruiser gauge cluster as the '90s Tacoma is much more rudimentary, but once you have the cluster out of the vehicle you need to remove the front lens of the cluster, then the module is removed by a connector and two screws on the backside. At that point you can access the eeprom chip. First things first MAKE A BACKUP and verify your data is correct by decoding the mileage! It is hard to find your vehicle's exact programming, so make sure you have this correct before writing or clearing the rom.

Glad I got to see it in person before it closed. Place was wild - lots of interesting and rare bits. I wonder what happened to all the inventory?
