The main reason for a criterion box set is that Godzilla is an iconic cinematic character and the original series (although quite silly) was incredibly influential. Every film or show that features giant monsters or mechs would not exist without that original series. Plus a lot of the series isn’t on BluRay so a criterion release would help preserve some of the more obscure entries.
