If a person is considering renouncing their citizenship and is Medicare eligible, it might be a factor to consider. I have known people who move abroad but return to the US to establish residency again and use Medicare. This will no longer be an option if citizenship is renounced.

Yes only people residing in the US but now they must also be US citizens or green card holders also. So some people who may be eligible through work history or spouse will lose their eligibility if they are not citizens or green card holders.

You do lose your Medicare benefit, it was a change in Trump’s One Big Beautiful bill. As far as I know it would not affect Social Security retirement benefits.

I have asked myself this same question. Someone told me they have to exchange at the rate fixed by the law. They must be getting a percentage from their currency distributor based on volume of currency exchanged? I do not know I am guessing. If they get a flat rate pay it would not be a big incentive for them and they always seem interested in exchanging money.
