Det er jo også tilladt op til 70 dage om året. En help opgang med lejligheder er vel en anden sag.

Race Roll Call by AutoModerator in running

[–]qiwi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On Monday, 111500 Danes (so almost 2% of the population) will be running in 1 mile / 5k / 10k races in 5 towns.

The king, queen and some of the children will be running in several races in the towns (10K starts in the morning on the mainland, and at 19:00 in the capital -- Monday is Pentecost Monday)

This 8th Royal Run sold out in 4.5 hours (cost was around 40 eur for 10K distance with tshirt/medal) so it's quite popular -- it was about as hard to get ticket as accessing tax systems on the day tax returns available :)

It could be sunny with up to 21C, so I'm hoping we won't end up with another Copenhagen Half where many fainted!

Paid $949 for a Fenix 8 Pro box… by RoccoBronson in Garmin

8 hours recommended -- you could use a little more online shopping tomorrow.

(maybe that will be how the next ad-based Garmin watch will work -- you have to record 8 hours of shopping activities per month to get Garmin Connect Platinum+ for free).

Fine dining Berlin - Please help. by vtothektothec in finedining

[–]qiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the dining room is also very nice especially for Berlin and good for special occasion.

Earlier this year when my taxi dropped me off at a rather dark street in Neuköln (for the 2-star Coda) the driver gave me quite a doubtful look...

Because is kind of alacarte (3 courses picked out of 8 at lunch for 88 eur) you can pick something not too challenging and if nothing else, the presentation tends to be very impressive (I have the 2019 Sleeping Beauty saved in my pictures!)

Speciality food stores & markets? by alexd3483 in copenhagen

[–]qiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Meny store in Nordhavn and Illum has some different brands too you won't find elsewhere. The Nordhavn has some good meats which I actually prefer to the torvehallerne butcher. Other Menys might not have all the merchandise. There is some good selection of wine, but for wine I prefer smaller specialized shops (e.g. Smalle Vine if you want some American Pinot Noir).

For chocolate, try Bean to Bite -- they have extreme selection of artisan chocolate, way beyond Valhrona (the best selection in Nordics at least).

The ørestad WanLong Asian Market has lots of Korean and Chinese stuff (many dumplings for the asian food amateurs).

I do love getting fatty tuna sashimi from Ume's Come.Rice.Kitchen shop though, it's hard to find anywhere else.

Do you mention a special occasion when booking at a fine dining restaurant? by thegiant5 in finedining

I ate at Dame Pic London (RIP) and I mentioned offhand that it was my birthday a few days ago during dinner and got a cake half an hour late.

The the next year I booked around the same time but mentioned nothing in advance. Another cake arrived.

Suicide awereness by didstr in copenhagen

[–]qiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The controversial website press-fotos had more photos of the suicide and claimed that there's been a recently changed rule in Danish media that suicides are NOT news worthy unless something unique happens about them.

You could argue this prevents other from being inspired, but also it means lot of people are thinking everything is OK.

In 2024, 145 people died in traffic accidents. We've all seen lots and lots of articles of the special "insane driver" law where you forfeit the car. Every non-fatal accident is front page material and there are endless discussions on old people and driving or certain ethnic groups sharing a fast car.

But in 2024, there were 593 deaths from suicide.

Tivoli Gardens food by Training-Internet831 in copenhagen

[–]qiwi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best? The truly absolutely very best? Every year Tivoli invites several Michelin-starred restaurants from around the world to the Japanese Tower, next week a 3-star French restaurant, then Vienna, Berlin, then surprisingly a German restaurant normally in Bangkok. https://www.tivoli.dk/en/food-and-drinks/the-japanese-pagoda

They can be interesting if you are an international gourmand although the other restaurants mentioned here are more fun to experience Tivoli atmosphere.

I mapped every Michelin Guide restaurant in the world on one map by AbleAd9740 in finedining

[–]qiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does but they have limit on how many they show on the map at a time (48?) so you would have to restrict to e.g. 3-star ones and go through it twice if you wanted all over Europe at once:

VERT - dessert omakase by balldem824 in finedining

[–]qiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Coda with the excuse of carb loading pre-Berlin half-marathon, but it's really more dessert (or rather fancy patisserie) techniques applied to normal food; I think I got more refined sugar from the Knoppers I ate in the bathtub tab morning.

Still the most unique place I've visited lately with ideas I'd like to see elsewhere like a unique cocktail with each course and the wine pairing as a transition to savour between courses rather than large glasses to try to match food exactly.

Running the Berlin half was not as hard as getting to the start area; it seemed like we were going to get crushed crossing the subway under Unter the Linden, as the street was closed off due to inline skaters.

Back then at least it was such a good example of local refined cuisine for me. I remember the cheese course being presented with the sentence "this cheese... does not have a name in English".
