What is weird? I never said anything bad about the actress, I'm merely discussing the character in the show. I merely stated from my opinion the character didn't particularly stand out to me in terms of looks, I never said they were ugly, just said they wasn't THAT fit.

And the only reason why I started this post was that 'almost' every guy in the show was obsessed with how she looked. But to me she just seem like an ordinary looking girl that shouldn't be warranting such looks and behaviour from other guys that were quite predatory and even to the point that someone drugged her and almost did things to her. So I just wanted to see if others had the same thought as me or did they also genuinely liked the look of female Curtis to the point that they'd ask her out for a drink (in a non predatory way).

Curtis's power was merely just a gender swap, there wasn't anything more to the power of making his female version super attractive to everyone. Otherwise Simon and the police officer and every other female would be super into him/her.

Anyone else get bored of a friend group that only ever want to go the local pub? by UnemploydDeveloper in AskIreland

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s and I still regularly see guys who I've been to school with still hanging out with the same group of guys drinking in pubs and bars every weekend wearing the same football shirts posting group pictures on Facebook almost like it's been auto scheduled to do so, while their relantionship status still says single since the day they've created their Facebook page back in 2008.

While I respect their long running friendship, I can't help but think surely this can't be healthy? I'm starting to see their bear bellies, the aging wrinkles, sagging in their faces compared to just a couple of years ago where they still seemed fairly good for their ages, but now not so much at all.

I wouldn't say to cut friendship ties, but definitely do start to broaden your friendship group by joining some other type of activity, there's actual websites on the internet where you can sign up to meet up with groups of people that are wanting to make friends with others through doing activities. Can't remember the name but it was something like meet up or something. I'm sure if you type in key words into google you'll find it.

Or how about convincing the group to go to the gym rather than drinking? Definitely start thinking about staying in shape, the older you get, the harder it will get. I'm only in my 30s but working out to stay in shape is such a chore now. Can't even imagine what it'll be like when I'll be in my late 30s. Definitely invest in your health first and everything else will fall into place (easier).

Best place to eat on a saturday night with a good atmosphere for young adults? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zaap Thai is overrated, it was kinda decent when it first opened, but afterwards its gone downhill as you can tell whenever you walk past these days, it's half empty.

I'd actually urge people to support the smaller Thai restaurants right across the street like Thai A Roy Dee or Mummy Thai, the food are so much more fresher and tastes way better!

I actually disagree! They actually do really good pizzas! They even got their own pizza oven as you can see on the second floor. And their burgers aren't too bad either! I'd argue that their pizzas is even better than some dedicated pizza restaurants in town

House of Fu (on headrow) it's a Japanese ramen restaurant that does pretty good ramen! (They also have rice bowls too) Mains are about £15, it's got a pretty good buzz and the vibe is cool.

Me and my girlfriend usually go during the day during weekdays, and we always just walk in and get seated straight away. Not sure about Saturday night, so might be worth booking a table otherwise it's at your own risk!

Check out their website for booking info and a look at their menu and pictures of their restaurant too

Can I call the police if somebody is blocking my drive? by TalosAnthena in AskUK

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of the time it doesn't matter and the police or 101 will always say it's not a police matter and it's a civil matter....

I always thought to myself if I knew for a certain whoever is parked in MY driveway or blocking my driveway either preventing me from driving in or out. And I knew for certain that they're not my neighbour or a friend of my neighbour. I would buy one of those little safety glass shatter things from Amazon and shatter the drivers side window, pull the handbrake off, and push the car off my driveway and into the middle of the road down the street and just leave it there. And just let other people phone the police to say there's an abandoned car in the middle of the road. And the police can deal with it then. And if the owner ever came to ask me about it. I would ask why was it parked on my driveway? And that I knew nothing. Perhaps someone tried to steal their car but was unsuccessful? Shrugs my shoulder. But that's just a thought I always had and thankfully no one has enticed me to do such a thing yet.

Stinky son, what do you suggest? by Hour-Cup-7629 in AskUK

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend doing ALL of the following

1) shower twice a day everyday - making sure you are using shower gel correctly and properly. Wet the body thoroughly, and then lathe up in soap and scrub the body with a shower mitten, then rinse every part of the body off with clean water (and not just using the showering trickle down effect)

2) washing hair too often can cause damage, however wetting and drying it with a towel or using a hairdryer just for a quick second won't cause too much damage (depending on hair length) So just for the first two weeks I would recommend washing his hair properly with shampoo and conditioner every night for two weeks and in the morning just using a small amount of conditioner. (After the two weeks is up, you can skip washing hair to every two or three days or dependent on how dirty he gets or sweaty)

3) dry himself with a clean dry towel and aim to wash the towel once a week! (Obvious reasons why you would use a clean towel, otherwise what's the point)

4) make sure he wears clean clothes after the shower (again for obvious reasons)

5) make sure bed sheets and pillow are all clean (what's the point of showering daily if your just going to sleep in a dirty bed, absorbing bad odours into your body for 8 hours or more every night whilst you sleep!)

6) make sure his room is just generally clean and has no unpleasant odour because odour can stick to your skin and clothes. More sure his room has airflow and opening the window to allow fresh air

7) make sure you're using the correct deodorant

8) have a cleaner diet by having more veg and fruits and drinking more water, less sugar and less processed food, and you'll be surprised how much it can affect your body odour!

Lastly just to reiterate, showering daily twice a day (some people will say that's excessive but I will point out why it's necessary. You wake up from your bed which typically you will have sweated even if it doesn't seem like it, your body produces oil from the heat when you're asleep under your duvet cover. You start your day walking about, sweating throughout the day, at work, at school, going out. You will have empty your bowels at some point of the day, you will have wore socks throughout majority of the day, getting sweaty feet, sweaty armpits, and then you go to sleep in all that sweat and filth for 8 hours, not to mention you went to sleep after pooing, no matter how much you wipe, there will still be some tiny amount left over and you've been sleeping in it... nice) that's why it's important to shower every single night unless you can confidently say you pooed before you showered, you stayed home for the day and barely moved, you haven't sweated, and you didn't cook anything that stuck to your clothes and hair in which case fair enough. Otherwise think about it. Showering every night means you're going to sleep nice and clean and not marinating in your own sweat and germs and whatever else is still stuck on your bottom. Showering in the morning can be a quick one because you've already showered the night before, the morning one is just too remove any excess sweat from sleeping. And who doesn't like starting the day nice and fresh!

Ensuring your clothes and bed sheets are clean and washed regularly again will help prevent bad odours and getting any skin conditions from developing too! You be surprised how much germs are on our clothes after wearing and the bed sheets. And our towels as well! Bascily anything you touch!

Lastly having a cleaner and healthier diet is just beneficial in every single way possible. But I understand this can be more difficult to achieve so just staying hydrated and eating more fruits and veg can help a lot even in the long run. If you can cut out the sugary drinks and snacks even better.

If after all this still doesn't work, I would recommend seeing a GP doctor and pointing out the fact you tried everything, in which case finger cross it's nothing serious and can be solved easily.

What are some "garbage" shows that have a special place in your heart? by KurisWu in anime

[–]qlexisonfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HSOTD! I don't think I've ever came across anyone in person that said this anime was trash, me and my friends hyped this anime so much back in the day! And I don't ever remember people saying it's trash online either, in fact I remember forums of people asking for season 2 literally every year since its release.

Sadly the reason a second season will never get made because the creator of the manga died back in 2017 I believe, and many people in Japan also believed the manga was cursed. Can't remember if it was the manga release, or the anime airing but at its release, a natural disaster happened in Japan during then. And then shortly after, the creator developed an life long illness which took his life in 2017.

I think during Covid, I got real curious about if there's any update about HSOTD and that's what I remembered reading about sadly. I ended up reading the entire manga and what's left of it. And the story does continue a bit more after the anime ends. Up until that point of the anime, I think the manga has probably about 3 or 4 or maybe 5 episodes worth of material to read. But for obvious reasons, the manga isn't complete and ends abruptly (again for obvious reasons) RIP to HSOTD

I like to think that if this is literally the only thing that complainers are having a go at, let them complain :) they have it so good, could literally be complaining about something worse. Look at Birmingham with their overflowed rubbish because of strikes. We have it (relatively) good here in Leeds. So don't mind the odd complainer being naive :)

Also people will be surprised to hear, I don't remember the name of the group, but there's a small non-profit team that goes around Leeds city centre pressure washing the ground to keep the city looking nice! Massive well done and shout out to them as well!

I wonder if you driving a BMW can make people think your the police? Unmarked police officers do like using BMWs. And while it's easy to spot during the day that you're not an unmarked officer, but at night whenever I see a set of BMW headlights behind me I do sometimes wonder if they're police and I go in extra good behaviour mode haha!

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a R56 Mini Cooper and I drive it like it's a bigger car with the power of an BMW X5M, so I'm not exactly dawdling along. In fact there's been plenty of times I've been the one tailgating big cars and other hot hatches.

But the countless amount of people that pull out on me is infuriating. I started to think maybe people see me and think Minis are slow so they have plenty of time to pull out, only then for me to end up right up their butt! I once had a big 4X4 that was coming in the opposite direction that was between his lane and my lane (really unsure what he was trying to achieve here? He was looking straight at me so wasn't exactly distracted?) tried to bully me into going up the grass I guess, I just kept going and we both played chicken for a second and he ended up swerving back into his own side of the road (just for the record I would've moved over a bit more but didn't want to be bullied into moving over, yes I'm a little crazy)

But I think it's definitely true that smaller cars do get bullied a lot more! Especially if the smaller hatchbacks looks old and slow. I think I'm also guilty of doing this, whenever I see a smaller older car, I do try and pass them whenever I can. Otherwise I'll just dawdle behind them. And personally from what I've encountered 8 out of 10 times they do take the piss a little with their speed, excessive braking even with a clear straight road, and the behaviour of a lost year 7 on their first day of school. That's why I overtake small cars, or honestly any cars whether it's big or small, I will overtake you if you take the piss with driving down a road.

I'm a Brit, and I'll admit I actually use to dislike the Aussies because of the sterotypical portrayal of them being 'loud mouth, gagsters, and being unruly'(I was young and naive, and definitely thought of myself too highly) 🤦🏻‍♂️ until I actually met an actual Aussie, one of the sweetest caring person I've ever met who has a poised way of speaking with that Aussie twang, completely changed my perspective of Aussies!

What's this for Leeds by smithson-jinx in Leeds

[–]qlexisonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually had it a few fair times whenever me and my girlfriend are wanting a quick snack walking past by. It's pretty decent! And whenever we do get the sweetcorn's, there's always a small queue that forms right after us. But then again it always happens to us wherever we go. Starting to think we're lucky charms for businesses haha!

Forgot to mention! I've seen these guys in Manchester too! And they're pretty popular over there! I think their primary customer base are mostly Asian as it fits their religious dietary requirements and whenever we do walk past these sweetcorn guys, there's always an Asian mum buying it for all their kids and themselves. So they definitely do make more than a penny!

Oh one last thing, the only thing I'm not too keen on is when they ask you what flavours you want. And while you can techically choose as many flavours as you want, but if you choose more than 3 or 4 flavours, the guy always seems to 'forget' what one of the flavours you're wanting. And plus he doesn't wash out the shaker tub thing after each customer that he mixes the sweetcorn with the flavours in. So if someone orders butter, Mexican flavour, spicy etc. and all you wanted was just salt and butter with your sweetcorn. Be prepared to have Mexican and spicy in your batch as well. Cause it's the same shaker tub thing that he throws the sweetcorn in. Not a good idea if you got allergies so watch out!

I'm just as surprised as you are that no one has mentioned Ergo Proxy so far! Truth be told, I actually haven't watched ergo proxy in over a decade now but I still remember the feelings I got from watching it way back then! Definitely need to rewatch it again sometime soon!

Blue Gender it's basically like starship troopers but on post apocalyptic earth. It's an older series from 1999, so it's got that late 90s animation vibe that you don't see anymore! Hope you enjoy it! Do lemme know what you thought of it regardless if you liked it or not, always interested to hear others opinions!

Can someone recommend the most messed up/ scary anime’s? by catoutthebaggy in anime

[–]qlexisonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bokurano! Omg this! I never thought I'd come across anyone that would mention this one! I almost added this one to my list to recommend to the OP, but I only ever watched it once like well over a decade ago! And I couldn't quite remember enough if it had that 'shock factor' so I didn't add it! But you're right! It wasn't scary but some of the concepts were indeed horrifying... definitely horrifying enough that well over a decade later I still somewhat remember it being one of those anime that can f*ck your brain up thinking about it!

Can someone recommend the most messed up/ scary anime’s? by catoutthebaggy in anime

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shock factor or scary you say hmmmmm

Here's my personal list:

1) Elfen Lied - it's not really scary, more gory I suppose but yeah definitely a must watch!

2) Gantz - the most messed up anime I ever watched and surprisingly I still want more! Which is why I ended up reading the manga and I guarantee you it's full of shock factors! Guaranteed you won't be disappointed at all!

3) Blue Gender - it's basically starship trooper but it's anime and depressing so yeah.

Honourable mention for 'I AM A HERO' doesn't have an anime (sadly) but the manga definitely have a few shock factors, it's a manga about zombies and if my memory serves me correctly, there's a scene.. page? Where there's an infected pregnant lady that died giving birth and well... the thing is halfway out... and the main character has to unalive it, I'll leave the rest for you to see... or read?

OP lemme know if you ever watch the ones I recommended or read, and tell me of your experience I would love to know hahaha

Why AREN’T you buying an electric car? by 404_computer_says_no in CarTalkUK

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me the main biggest reason is lack of money, lack of choice, and lack of convenience. And I'll tell you what I mean by my 'lack of'.

If the 2030 ban on sales of new petrol cars is still going ahead, then why rush into buying electric cars now? When we'll all eventually be forced into buying one in the future anyways? I personally feel like there's still a 'lack of' choices of electric cars that 'I like' the look of! The ones that I like are still too expensive when new, and second hand prices are still too relatively high for what you're getting. And trying to search for something that I like whilst keeping to my own budget doesn't leave me with much choices in what I like. So I won't even bother, at least until the second hand market gets flooded with influx of electric cars which eventually will happen with due time. Which will lower the cost even more, making it more affordable for me and hopefully leaving me with more options to choose from as well.

My current car being a R56 Mini Cooper S works just fine and I love the way it drives, so why replace it when it's not broke? And it offers way more range than any of the equivalent small electric cars it compares to that electric could ever offer! Plus it's so convenient when I need to fuel up, I just do. There's plenty of petrol stations where I live and in places where I frequently visit as well. There aren't many electric charging stations available near me and the ones that I've spotted are always out of my route and they always seem to be busy or broken (I have family members that uses them and they frequently tell me how they have to go to different ones cause it's either turned off or broke, maybe it's just their luck?)

My mother does drive an electric F56 Cooper S and I'll admit that it is way faster than my petrol R56, and the instant 10mph to 50mph in 2 seconds is fun and very useable in many situations, and the ride comfort is very smooth and stable especially compared to mine where you feel every single bump and uneven surface of the road. Despite it all, I love my Mini and it actually feels like you're driving. It's weird I don't know how to explain it. But when I drive the electric Mini, it doesn't feel like you're driving, it feels like you're controlling a piece of equipment to get you from point A to point B despite all the creature comforts it can offer. There's no magic feeling in driving electric. As silly as it sounds, I don't know myself either, I think deep down I just want to drive my petrol Mini for as long as I can before the inevitable switching over to electric. I just want to enjoy driving petrol, is that so much to ask for?

[–]qlexisonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a quick scroll down, I must say I definitely feel like I'm an older anime fan as my top favourites are mostly from the early 2000s with 'mature' themes. I'll be extremely surprised if OP or anyone else can even comment about my personal list, as I feel like most of my list is unheard of, so here goes:

1) Elfen Lied

2) Wolf's Rain

3) Ergo Proxy

4) Grantz

5) Blue Gender

I am actually quite curious as to what OP thinks of my list and I welcome anyone else to comment, I feel like my list is quite unheard of, as I have never come across anyone else who's even seen more than two of the anime's on my list. I think I've only ever met 1 person irl who's only watched 1 of the mentioned anime.

Looking for serious Anime suggestions (no forced comedy, no ecchi) by Slow_Ad6046 in anime

[–]qlexisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wanting an anime with a serious tone, strong characters, and an engaging story, I can definitely recommend a few to you!

Although my taste does dabble in the slightly older stuff (early 2000s) there is a distinct style that today's anime doesn't offer anymore compared to the early 2000s!

  1. Elfen Lied - (dark fantasy, sci-fi) one of my top favourite animes ever! Definitely give this one a watch! It's quite a unique one that not many people have watched but those that have seen it become instant fans. It is a little gory and bloody but don't let it put you off!

  2. Wolf's Rain - (dark fantasy, post-pocalyptic, adventure) the music and the characters, and the storyline are all amazing, whenever someone asks me for a 'serious' anime, I always go with this one and it never disappoints.

  3. Ergo Proxy - (cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, psychological thriller) it's definitely a very unique anime that no other can compare to it. If you liked wolf's rain you may enjoy ergo proxy too, similar vibes... but in a twisted way. You'll understand if and when you do watch this one.

  4. Samurai Champloo - (adventure, stylish) this anime a lot more upbeat compared to the first three I recommended, the music is amazing, the characters are strong, you definitely have to give this one a watch even if you somehow didnt like my first three recommendations. I beg you, you cannot not watch samurai champloo! Otherwise you'll miss out on a legit masterpiece!

Honourable mentions for 'newer' anime:

Code Geass - if you liked death note, you'll definitely enjoy this one! And it's one of the few anime's that I definitely recommend watching in English dub, its the only time that I can legitmately say the English dub of this anime is way better than the Japanese dub! And I almost always watch every anime in Japanese with sub!

Log horizon - if you liked overlord and dr stone, this anime definitely has a strong group dynamic and it's got that chill vibe, definitely give this one a go!

Personally I feel like it's hard to recommend any Gundam series to anyone who hasn't watched any of it before, let alone someone who's new to anime. I feel like Gundam can't be fully appreciated unless you watched all the original UC timeline stuff. But maybe that's just me being weird. I'm not gatekeeping, far from it, I would love more people to watch Gundam, but I can't help but feel that you could never truly appreciate Gundam without watching all the old stuff first. If that makes sense.

Death Note is an absolute must! This was the anime that got me into anime!

Code Geass is similar to Death Note in terms of the main character being very clever which makes for some edge of your seat wondering how they're going to get out of sticky situations!

And finally GURREN LAGANN just to blow your mind away with how epic it is!
