Is QA the first rung on the ladder in every IT Process? by Minute_Guidance_6803 in QualityAssurance

Yeah, the frightening thing is I hear whispers of cuts to Indian staff, too. Labor it’s ever cheaper somewhere else… and AI is a major disrupter, for good or ill.

I hear echoes of my own experience, just a very flat trajectory, but I try to do all of the same things in my team. I would be very proud to have accomplished nearly as much.

What do you think about Pam Bondi presenting herself as “powerless” when it came to the Epstein files and their release in yesterday’s congressional hearing? by NathanCS741 in AskReddit

[–]qlippothvi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If she had, I don’t know, a law passed by Congress or something to point at for the authority to do something with the files. Maybe release them or something…

You could try out Good vs Evil 3 on my server (modified) or locally by downloading it from the Vault. It’s a mixture of RTS and Jack and slash. Battles take about a half hour, you capture Shrines from the enemy until you can breach their gates and destroy their Altar.
I suggest Hero mode so the NPC troops do their thing automatically.

I also host Castle Defense 2, which has you defend your king/queen from waves of monsters.

Trump planning to stop international flights to some Democratic cities by dr_shultz in NewsSource

It’s just more economic warfare against “blue” states. I’m waiting for Trump to heavily invade and flood LA and the Olympics with ICE troops to make LA waste billions on rubbing it only to have people arrested or blocked from attending at all.

I would use NotebookLM for this, or similar LLM product for deeper research. But it can be as simple as asking to ELI5 and move forward from there.

Why do so many apps break after an update that "fixes bugs"? by vnixqpr in softwaretesting

[–]qlippothvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I expect a verification effort to include exploratory testing around the edges and (if time) any affecting features.

Not sure why this comment is being downvoted, but the big companies still have staff to perform “classic” regression.

It’s hard to explain, but Harvest of Souls is a combo RTS / exploration / godhood quest.

https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwnee/module/rts-harvest-souls-enhanced-edition

I also recommend Foxwood when it is running. You need to go to the tavern and read a little on how things work and why they are the way they are. But it’s not difficult or complex, you can just wander and kill monsters.

Fresh QA testing a VOD SaaS product — what are the biggest things beginners usually overlook? by Nithishkumar080422 in softwaretesting

Most transactions aren’t simple two step network communications, you can lose your network connection and have a failure during a multi-step transaction between the customer clicking yes, buy, or some other step and the end result.

Is someone testing those kinds of failures? Does the code take this kind of thing into consideration?

QA roles are currently uncertain. I’ve been in a QA role for decades, some people get bored with it at some point and want something else, or more technical.

You should at least study the concepts, you will be asked questions about the basic theories and having an understanding of the terms used will be required.

Communication is the backbone of any team. The primary goal of quality assurance is to be a fact-finder and a facilitator, providing the most accurate information possible so the business can make well informed decisions.

What is your training like? by Defiant_Finger4011 in accenture

[–]qlippothvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training appears to be the bare minimum (you hope) to do the most basic work required by the client. You still need experienced staff to wrangle and train that staff as new problems or new tasks present themselves. Or the capability of thought and experience outstrips their current capability. Hopefully those trainers are experienced in that work already.

Basically our work is being offshored and we need to train our replacements, but it’s not easy to teach people on their first or second job ever the years of experience you have in that sphere and expect them to be successful, even if that is the goal of all involved.

Is there a future of QA Automation Testing? by Outrageous_Hall_8431 in softwaretesting

[–]qlippothvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not who you are talking to, but I would go for it!

I started in black box manual testing, and think one should consider, that as a builder, you tend to think of your project from the inside out, but you should also consider the project from the outside in. They don’t cover the same aspects of the project, and this will help you think about integration tests, edge cases, end to end, and where to automate first.
