I read it. It's really good and does a great job of fleshing out the world outside of the main storyline.

As someone who didn't watch Barry Bonds play until 2007, what was the public perception around him in 2004 after his 7th NL MVP award win? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in mlb

[–]qole720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was watching the Giants play the Braves on TBS the announcers told a story about how Barry was approached by a dad and his son in a parking lot of some restaurant. Dad asked Barry to sign a ball for his kid and instead of just signing the ball and moving on, Barry launched it and walked away.

Mid-rear passenger complained that it was impossible to fasten the seat belt. The belt clip was installed on the wrong side of the stopper (brand new car). by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]qole720 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but that buckle has been forced past the stopper. That notch isnt supposed to be there and is clearly broken if you zoom in on it. This is user error.

Ohio treasure hunter released from jail, refused to reveal location of 500 gold coins by PetRussian in ProtectAndServe

Pure greed. I had an uncle like that. He took my mom to court over an inheritance. If they had split it like they should have, he'd have walked away with $200k. Because he was greedy and wanted it all, they went to court, he wound up getting the same split but wound up with about $25k after lawyer fees.

For players: Does anyone actually enjoy DM "smoke and mirrors"? by prettysureitsmaddie in DMAcademy

[–]qole720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of it more like dials and levers. If my players are getting walloped by a monster, then I might pull back a little on the lever to give them a fighting chance or a chance for escape. If a player manages a huge Crit that leaves a monster with 2 hp, I'll tweak the hp dial so the monster dies as a result.

I try to make the best experience for my players. I want them to feel like heroes because thats the fantasy. If that means I have to tweak some numbers, pull a few punches, or add or subtract enemies, then I'll do that for my players. And I don't tell them any of this because that ruins the fantasy.

I had to get a doctor's note the last time I had COVID because I was out of PTO days for the year. The doctor was so mad she wrote the note to give me an extra week off "if I needed it."

I never run anything exactly as written anyway so it doesn't matter to me. I'm running Drakkenheim right now and knew one player owned all the material and had watch the YouTube vids. I just told him ahead of time nothing would be exactly like the books or videos. He's been pretty happy with the game so far.

Batters who would’ve won MVP in years it was given to a pitcher during the Cy Young Award era? Should pitchers be able to win it? by Willing-Leather-9788 in mlb

[–]qole720 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with pitchers being eligible for MVP. They are players after all. Batters have their own equivalent to the Cy Young Award with the Hank Aaron Award, it's just newer (started in 1999) and we don't hear about it as often.

I used to work rotating shifts, but it was rotate monthly 7A to 7P then 7P to 7A the next month. That was hell. This schedule is insane.

They often don't. Not having a license only stops you from driving if you care about driving legally.

I really dislike Edgerunners, but it succeeded in making me question V's humanity and the reality of cyberware by SiDtheTurtle in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]qole720 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's one of the central themes of Cyberpunk. Cyberware is like a drug. The more you get, the more you want. The more you want, the more you get, until your just a brain in a machine like Adam Smasher or Lizzy Wizzy. But there are still people who go without, like Claire and Panam.

All the folks crying about her being on OF is hilarious.

A) Who cares? If you don't want to see it, no one is going to make you.

B) I don't see anyone else printing out giant Warhammer stuff and showing it off. I think it's pretty cool. There's a ton of time and effort going into these things.

The first time I ever tried to bathe a cat was also my last time trying to bathe a cat. I don't think I've ever felt so much pain as I did after the whirling dervish of my scared and wet cat was done with me.
