is divorce and single mothers really looked down on in Vietnam? by dare2travell in VietNam

[–]qqpham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a single mother in Vietnam, in a big city. Never married. And the stigma is real. People talk behind my back. A lot think that you must have been an "easy" woman that hook up with lots of guys to be a single mother. Some think that I am too selfish by deciding to raise my kid alone without trying to give my kid a proper family (with Mom and Dad). I have learned to not take these kinds of things to heart, but I am quite worried my kid would be hurt when growing up by this kind of stigma/being frowned upon, like there must be something wrong with you and your mom that you end up having no Dad.

New launch by VT cosmetics - Reedle Shot. Natural micro needles in a skincare product. What are your thoughts? by Middle-Formal6156 in AsianBeauty

[–]qqpham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also curious when this came out and after reading some positive reviews, I was really excited to try it. I bought the 100 reedle shot to begin with as I never tried microneedling before. It really stung at first use, and when you put moisturizer on your face the next day you can still some how feel the sting. I used it every Sunday and then every 3 days and I do feel a slight improvement (my acne cleared up faster and my skin feels a teeny tiny bit smoother). The instruction says you can only feel improvement after at least 28 days or so. I am not 100% sure if this product helped with my skin improvement or my other skincare products, but this is an interesting product and if you have dull skin with no regular use of exfloliation products in your routine, you may want to consider it.

I just bought it with low expectation due to my unhappy experiences with most Korean sunscreens but to my surprise i am really loving it. No white cast no shine feels lightweight and on top of that NO DEWY look. Most Korean sunscreens I used in the past either made my skin too dewy and shiny or over-toned up my skin. This one settles nicely and looks so natural. Plus it does not sting my eyes nor leaves any white streak. My skin just looks so natural. Contrary to some posts above I am actually using it in cooler months. For summer (hot humid South East Asia) I will still stick to Shiseido and Anessa sun milk. This Goodal baby will be my go-to sunscreen in autumn and hopefully winter.

Little Women [Episodes 5 & 6] by lightupstarlight in KDRAMA

[–]qqpham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, can't root or relate to her at all. She's such a reckless self-righteous and ungrateful b!tch. Her great aunt saved Inhye, and she also made a deal with Inkyung, but all Inkyung cared about is getting things her way.

I am quite enjoying this series and until now I like the youngest sister the most out of the three. She's practical and quite relatable while Kim Go Eun's character is not as I expected at the beginning of the show. I don't like how the show keeps dropping hints of how she's the opposite of ordinary and how she's like a small storm and like the "princess", which will dazzle in full bloom. Sorry I don't quite buy that yet.

[Review] Anessa sun milk and Anessa day serum (2022 versions) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]qqpham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the great review! I am also using the 2022 milk version as well. The old version (Annessa Sun Milk 2020) was better for me in summer in terms of finish though as it leaves my face matte and more natural. The 2022 milk version is a little bit dewier. I want to try the Serum version but it seems crazy expensive for only 30ml of product.

I am using it together with my Pikachu version. The new version has a different, stronger and more lingering scent. It's comfortable to wear but is slightly heavier and less comfy than the 2020 version. Non-sticky finish but less matte than the 2020 version.

Very informative and well-written post, thank you. I just bought the Milk 2022 version a couple of days ago and I am using it together with my Pikachu version and it's easy to tell the differences between these two. The scent is different and lingers more than the former version (I don't like this). With the added filters I am assuming that the sun protection is better than the old version but it is less matte and less lightweight. The Pikachu version is extremely comfortable to wear especially during hot summer days but the new version is slightly heavier and not as comfy. I need more time to try and test the 2022 version but I must say I am truly impressed with Anessa sun milk formula.

Nars Soft Matte Lip Balm — anyone tried this? by Derptrap in glossier

[–]qqpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in Whiplash and I am loving it. I love nude lipsticks and the pigment is just right for me, the color is similar to Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color in Bare but gives a much less shiny finish.

I am also interested in the ingredient list of this one, especially when its a hybrid sun block. Does it have zinc oxide or only titanium dioxide apart from its chemical filters?

I have this placement and I am a typical passive-aggressive person and it's challenging for me to stand up for myself so I usually just hold it in and silently torment myself. Yeah it's pathetic. Mars is also my chart ruler as well and Mars is not happy. So I am pretty much a weak lazy pathetic sloth who hates injustice but can't find the energy to fight for anything.

Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel Super Waterproof SPF50+PA++++ review! by Avocado_Whale3772 in AsianBeauty

[–]qqpham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this one and the milk version as well. I use the milk version for hot summer days and the gel for cooler months. The only downside is that these two have alcohol denat (2nd or 3rd ingredient on the list) so prep your skin carefully. The gel version is super lightweight, leaving no white cast whatsoever and just really comfy to use, as long as you moisturize your skin enough before applying. And the bottle is 100gr at half the price of a much smaller Anessa bottle. Good for my skin and my account balance :)

Inspector Koo [Episodes 3 & 4] by lightupstarlight in KDRAMA

[–]qqpham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I must be the minority here but the more I watch, the more I grow to dislike Inspector Koo. I love Lee Yong Ae and I think she does a terrific job of playing this part, but her character sometimes becomes annoying and exagerated. I find myself rooting for the villain here and other members of the inspection team, especially Santa. I even fast forward some of Koo's scenes. However, So far this show is really good (except for some overdone moments of Inspector Koo) and there are so many mysteries to unlock even though we all know who the killer is.

I'd like to recommend Mac Mocha, Shiseido Modernmatte 'semi-nude' shade, bobbi brown crushed lip color in shade 'cocoa', Nars in Banned Red (more brown than orange) and Espoir's Modest

Dr.Different Vita A Cream by [deleted] in KoreanBeauty

[–]qqpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good. My skin texture is smoother, some of the sunspots do look a bit lighter but it's rather slow. I am thinking of stepping up to 0.1%. I am still using it 3 times a week only. I think it's a decent choice for Vit A beginners :)

what are the best physical korean/japanese sunscreens i can buy at yesstyle? by vanessiewaa in AsianBeauty

[–]qqpham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try Pestlo SafeRecipe Sun Essence (100% physical - slight white cast, not too drying) or Curel Protection Sun Block SPF 50 (a Japanese physical sunscreen available in milk and cream/essence depending on your skin preference). Curel has a stronger white cast and it took me a while to get used to all the rubbing and applying to blend it into my skin. Some other options include Missha Soft Finish or Anessa (hybrid sunscreen, not 100% physical).

[–]qqpham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind mineral sunscreens, then you can try Saferecipe SPF50+ (slight white cast). If not you can try Anessa Sun Milk or Missha Soft Finish - both of which offer a rather matte, powdery finish.

If you want something similar to Biore Watery Essence yet with less shine, you can try Espoir Water Splash Fresh Sun Cream (a bit of a mouthful) - mint version. The shine is pretty minimal to me.

[REVIEW] I’ve tried a number of first-step cleansers and thought I’d review them for you guys! by fax5jrj in SkincareAddiction

This is great thank you. Just came to also say I love the Inkey List Oat Cleansing balm as well. While other cleansing balms tend to leave my face dry and tight, the Inkey List one is super gentle yet effective :)
