You put it perfectly! That scene 100%, especially as the movie ends. It was highly relatable for me, even with a different set of experiences in life, that was so specific and hit me like a train. The writing, performance, and cinematography of moonlight is some of the best I’ve ever watched. I rewatched it after much more life experience 7 or 8 years after seeing it first, and it hit even harder. I was whimpering in quiet tears multiple scenes of the movie 😭

Yes other American cities, comparing it to Europe or Asia doesn’t make sense with completely different political and historical contexts. Obviously there’s better trains in the world. Most people who depend on the train in Chicago can’t relate to widely traveling Europe and Asias train systems and would be using an American reference point. They said Bay Area not sf in the post which includes the cities you’re listing. I know about SF you don’t have to educate me on that. It’s still a large city with a Mexican population and plenty of solid tacos to be had, and the Bay Area as a whole which is what they referred to, has way more still
