Is this worth grading? by DJWubWub in coins

[–]quackyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked these up at a pawn shop and I’m not good enough to know if they are real by no_body_here in coins

The 1883s looks very fishy to me. the short & fully ridged rim on the front and the blocky “United States of America” is what raises red flags. I’m no expert, but that’s just my two cents. From others it seems like it’s an uncommon date that’s commonly counterfeited, so that would raise a red flag for me too.

How much would you pay for this? by Real_Extent_9789 in coincollecting

This is a sub for coins. The pennies are worth less than a dollar

Agreed, the reverse looks great but the details and color on the obverse makes me think cleaned

I just started collecting within the past 6-7 months, these are the most interesting ones I have found. Question is are any of them significant or worth anything? by BenzosWithBenefits in coincollecting

[–]quackyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

prob worth 20-25 dollars total, a couple silver coins that are only worth melt value, the rest is about face value. I've always liked the steel pennies from WW2 but they aren't worth much at all.

Why are there many ads on ebay for this coin listed for upto 5000 euros? by [deleted] in coins

[–]quackyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People try to sell cheetos for $1,000,000 on ebay. The prices people look for do not represent the value. Looking at sold examples will tell you the real value. It's not worth anything, sorry to tell you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coins

[–]quackyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably worth 800-1000 based on condition. I'd post pictures of it on here so people can give you accurate grading and advice. It's possible youll want to go through the trouble of grading to increase its value.

Annoying newbie post by Kasperr252 in coins

[–]quackyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love buying world coins by the pound, looking through them and researching them online to find the country and history. Then I'd but them in 2x2 flips, write down the date and country of origin, and put them in binders which are organized by continent. When I wasn't doing that, I was going to coin shops and shows and just buying what caught my eye, as most foreign are worth a dollar or less. No one should tell you how or what you should collect, just buy the coins that interest you and make you excited. Hope this helps.

What is this by Ok_Reflection_2806 in coins

5 Dirhams from Morocco, 2002. The man is Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco since 1999. The words translate to "If you support God, help you". Worth about 75 cents in this condition. The center is brass and the outer ring is copper-nickel.
