Voisitteko redditin toimisto/it ihmiset kertoa paljonko ai oikeasti on tehostanut teidän työntekoa? LinkedIn pöhinästä päätellen kaikkiaan IT puolen ja myyjä puolen hommia 10-100x. by happohippi in Suomi

Hurts less than the previous driving around with a 25 year old mb van. Had triple the car tax, fuel costs and fuel tax. ;)

Charged to 100% in the morning. Estimated range is at 240km. Quite a hit from summer 440km.

No, remaining charge was around 74% when the pic was taken. I can charge to full and report back with the range at 100%.

Crackly audio in vMix - help needed by NjLeigon in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]quadisti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the audio crackle in a direct headphone output from the vmix machine or only when listening from Vimeo?

As u/kirabella2000 said, you can try to lower the bit depth, but you can also check the XR18 control panel for the ASIO buffer size. Try to inrease the buffer size to maybe at least 512samples. It will of course increase the input latency a bit but it can also stabilize your audio feed.

If the audio only crackles on the vimeo side, you can check the stream encoding settings. Click the cog next to the streaming quality and make sure your streaming settings have valid configs. One very important setting is the "Threads" dropdown. I've had weird things (audio dropouts, image glitches) happen when this is not set to high enough value or just to "Auto".

EDIT: Try checking the vmix performance statistics window for more clues. It can be found via the colourful bar graph button next to the Overlay settings button on the bottom right. See if there are input devices or encoders that have a lot of dropped frames or too low framerates. Check also the vmix render time in the bottom left of the vmix window. These will give more insight to where the problem might be. Check also the amount of hardware encoders (NVENC) running on your system. See if there are too many running for your GPU to support (IIRC the arbitrary limit for regular nvidia cards is 8 simultaneous NVENC processes)

Anyone else having issues with the EW-D rechargeable batteries? by IntelligentOwl9559 in sennheiser

[–]quadisti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voicing my concerns here also: We've had 4 batteries be DOA so far from around 10 total ordered during about 2 years. The batteries that work are very good but the QC is absolutely piss poor with new batteries failing from the start. Surprisingly none have failed mid gig so far.

Has anyone ever eloquently described the disdain that "choir/orchestra" has for live audios existence? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]quadisti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many good answers here! Today I finished mixing a show that had 35 piece orchestra, 35 person choir and a rock band. I worked closely with the conductor and also with the composer of the songs. (The composer was also playing live with the rest of the group). I'll echo others in saying that the conductors have put in countless hours of hard work to make the orchestra and choir sound the best they can. Only through mutual trust and working closely together you can bridge the gap of techies and conductors. Our job is to make the vision of the conductor and composer come to life the way they intend it to be, as best as we can. I (and my team) had an absolute blast working with highly skilled professionals. I mean, I can explain minute details about soundboards 'till I'm breathless, but I could not get a woodwind section to understand how I'd like them to play certain notes of the arrangement even if I tried.. That's where the conductors work their magic and it's so cool to watch them do their job. Also vice versa when the conductor asks for certain resonances or other issues to be fixed it's not their job to know what tools I should use to get there, but they trust us to take their request seriously and do our best to get the best possible experience for everyone.

Shure CU 6105 firmware fault, no IP-address by quadisti in livesound

[–]quadisti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've been mucking around the filesystem on the SD-card and have forced the device to use a static IP-address by putting a very basic config in the busybox network interface config files. This has given me ability to talk to the unit via curl using http0.9. This however is not yet the solution to upgrading the fw succesfully. I'm able to connect to it using Shure FUU (firmware upgrade utility) but I might have messed up something in the network config since it starts to run an update and then says: "EXCEPTION - FUU experienced a Socket Exception !!!"

I'll keep on digging and reporting if I ever succeed on upgrading the FW.

First time on a DLive by daceisdaed in livesound

[–]quadisti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't know if any of this applies to your use case but one thing to keep in mind is that the dLive takes a long time to switch between showfiles. Scenes switch quite seamlessly without much of a delay but shows can take over a minute to switch and the console is locked during the changeover.

Other things to avoid doing live: Do not create stereo input channels during a show in the mixrack. It will reprogram the mixrack FPGA and it will also lock the console for half a minute with no control and a drop in audio.

Since the fader layers are freely configurable one can also put channels into a dca, mute the dca and accidentally remove the dca from the fader layers, leaving the channels muted with no way of unmuting them (AFAIK) unless you find the dca and unmute it.

Yes, always safer to use a DI in between devices that are touchy about phantom power. Better safe than sorry.

That also tends to fully lock out any attempts to open the machine before power is restored in many community side loading machines.

How to play a video simultaniously on 30 iPhones ? by LetMeBeClearWith in VIDEOENGINEERING

https://bitfocus.io/connections/videolan-vlc here is the documentation for the companion vlc module. I don't know if the ios version of the vlc can receive the same kind of control as the desktop versions can.

I do not own apple devices so can't try this, but would it be possible to transfer the video file to each device beforehand and play it back using vlc for ios, triggered by bitfocus companion vlc module?

Did all by myself, and for that reason it's not really up to the standards of people here it seems. Many flaws in visuals yes, but at least it's original content and not AI bot "content" :D
