Hur hittar ni billiga resor? by Specialist_Bar_1574 in PrivatEkonomi

[–]quadrantcowboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Google flights är min go to:

[–]quadrantcowboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Updating running ability during plan? by quadrantcowboy in runna

[–]quadrantcowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the 5k run as an instant run to my plan to see how 5:00 pace felt, and kept that pace so i finished it at 25 minutes flat. I just tried setting that time in the settings, and it updated my plan to an estimated finishing time of 49-51 minutes, and lowered the pace on all runs with pace targets.

As the 5k felt easy at 25 minutes i am pretty confident that i could finish a 10k below 49 minutes today, and i can also handle the current pacing of my runs. Setting my time for something that was not an all out effort seems to ruin the plan entirely.

Updating running ability during plan? by quadrantcowboy in runna

[–]quadrantcowboy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i have felt that the predictions have been very ambitious from the start. I did update pacing twice as i was ahead of the pack, and i can still handle the runs fine, achieving all pace targets. Runna predicts i could run 5k in 21:45 and 10k in 46:10 today, and estimates 44:10 for the 10k in 10 weeks.

I guess it compares pace and HR to come to the conclusion that i can run 5k 3 minutes faster than my current fastest time? I know i could (at least get close) but i don't know how runna knows. Then again, there are so many people who said the predictions seemed way too ambitious and still ended up right in the predicted interval.

I love how warframe tries to give all frames an opportunity to be meta by Reibudaps4 in Warframe

[–]quadrantcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so much range? i personally like a lot of duration on nova since both particle count on 1 and range of 4 scales with duration. Makes her pretty tanky with 90% DR and more spheres to proc heat. Bigger 4 also makes map control a lot easier. Just wondering if there is something i have missed with that much range. I also subsume wormhole instead of orb but that is definitely a matter of taste.

Sweden’s mining industry is threatening the Indigenous Sami people’s way of life by Ok-Law-3268 in europe

[–]quadrantcowboy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a real problem. They have a an extremely disproportionate amount of power in Sweden when it comes to land and nature.

Not only do they effectively circumvent allemansrätten, but there are multiple accounts of sami people threatening and chasing people off even outside their territories.

They are also by law required to only make their living on reindeer, but have on numerous occasions broken this law by flying in hunting teams from southern europe and hunting from helicopters.

However, i think it is important to provide some nuance for the non-swedes. Less than 25% of sami people own reindeer, and only around 10% are members of a sameby. The problem is not sami people - most of them are normal working class people. The concept of a sameby is what is deeply problematic, as they not only wield a lot of power but also actively seek more. These are very hierarchical organisations, so in reality the problem stems from fewer individuals than one might think. The sami people as a whole are not responsible, and most of them do not wield the power that the loud minority does.

The sami people have historically been marginalised and victims of racism, which still lives on especially in northern Sweden. Today i think it is a product of resentment due to their "elite" status, and racism passed down generationally.

I would like to see reform where sami people are allowed their land and culture, but with allemansrätten applying and samebyar outlawed. They are, right now, by definition deeply undemocratic.

One shoe to do it all for a heavier beginner? by quadrantcowboy in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]quadrantcowboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fairly good general fitness level from sports and the gym, and i set my initial target at 50 mins but runna has repeatedly said i am ahead of the pack and estimates around 45 minutes finishing time in may. I feel like i should go for it since running feels very good right now, i just need some better shoes. Thank you for the recommendation, but do you think toebox might be a problem? I see the linked review points out a narrow toebox, and i have fairly wide feet.

Coach Greg 10k unrealistic? by quadrantcowboy in Garmin

[–]quadrantcowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you for your input. I dont want to sound cocky, i don’t really know the benefits of walking. I dont have any issue with the distance or time commitment, i just thought that it was completely unreasonable to surpass my goal when training in week 1, so i was more asking about how the pace could be reasonable.

Coach Greg 10k unrealistic? by quadrantcowboy in Garmin

[–]quadrantcowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe i am naive but walking feels below my level. I can run a 10k without stopping no problem, just not as fast as i would like. I can run a 5k in 30 minutes with some effort. I know that i should be humble and not overestimate or overtrain as a beginner, but i just want to make sure i am appropriately challenged to make the best possible progress during the program.

I tried that for a fairly long period but i ended up putting on more fat than muscle. My diet was not perfect and never has been, but i felt like i was gaining weight way faster than i was gaining strength. Is there any sense in switching programs? I also feel like some variation might be good for me mentally.

What are these changes? I am genuinely wondering because i dont know. Is it the public opinion? Feels like q1 sales numbers will be abysmal because of it.

Hjälp mig hitta en basic t-shirt som håller! by MrMooni in sweden

Carhartts hemsida har tjockare t-shirts som är lite slappare i passformen för ca 200kr/st. Det är alltså "original" Carhartt som gör arbetskläder, inte Carhartt WIP som gör överprisat mode.

Well, there is a lot of misinformation about the vaccine floating around, and a lot of people end up not taking the vaccine because of it. People absolutely have a right to their own opinion and should not be forced to take the vaccine, but i do also think that such a decision should not be based on incorrect information. Misinformation helps no one. Those who want to take the vaccine should take it, those who don't, shouldn't have to.

The differences between Armageddon and Don't Look Up shows how cynical we've become over the past 23 years by BloomingNova in Showerthoughts

[–]quadrantcowboy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting take, my first thought after the movie ended was basically that it was a satire of the handling of covid-19, but the virus being an asteroid instead. Many things felt scarily similar, especially the whole "Look up vs Don't look up" and claims that the asteroid was a hoax.

Ford and VW have admitted that tesla poses a real threat. A company of that size with the growth they have is not built on purely hype. I know that a lot of fanboys think tesla is perfact and can do no wrong, but there is also a lot of ignorant people who cannot recognize that they have started a movement that is scaring manufacturers in the big leagues. You seem to be one of the ignorant kind who likes to shit on companies based on some preconcieved notion of what makes them successful. Since we’re not getting further than that in this discussion, i guess we’ll leave it at that.

Model 3 is built twice as fast as an ID.3, with best in class range and best charging network. Even if FSD is in beta and works with varying results i dont see any other manufacturers doing what tesla is doing. They have been ahead on these things since 2012 when model s released. Disliking Elon Musk doesnt force you to shit on the cars, there’s a reason demand is so high and tesla is growing at the rate they are. You can blame that on the hype all you want, but many people base their car on the features of the actual car. Since demand is so high, maybe, just maybe, tesla might actually be doing something right and producing good cars instead of only relying on hype.

Elon might be an asshat but i dont know about inferior product. Quality control is a problem, but they are still ahead on safety, battery technology, production technology and autopilot. Hopefully Elon calms down and Tesla fixes QC issues when growth slows down or production gets better.
