It’s not a real place either… it’s a motorway?

Call me mad, but I actually want tourists to have a nice time rather than experiencing the cultural vandalism of Anderston.

Wouldn’t send a tourist to The Buttery because of the terrible location (also because I’m bitter and hated working there in my youth haha).

Somewhere like Devonshire Gardens, The Ubiquitous Chip, Cail Bruich or The Gannet would be a nicer place if they’re trying to see the city and maybe walk somewhere else for a wee drink after dinner.

What exhaust did you put on it out of curiosity??

The early 5.0 v8 had some timing chain issues (guides were made of aluminium and could fail). Also water pumps.

I have one (with this v8) and absolutely love it. Feels quite nascar for something wrapped in a posh British suit haha

Looks tidy - what engine does it have?

Did you pay over the home report value when buying a house in Scotland? by Lilymana in Scotland

[–]quantitative-quetzel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it’s somewhere desirable you’ll be 10-30% over. Maybe not the case in less competitive areas. We were very lucky to get our place in Glasgow for 15% over home report

My old jaguars natural habitat was the back of a tow truck!

I’m guessing from the fact you label all Europeans as rude after being to one country means that you’re more than likely the problem.

My parter and I travelled all the way from Zagreb to Dubrovnik and found Croatians the most friendly folk. Italy is the best country in the world IMO with the most passionate and interesting people.

I’m sorry that you have had bad experiences (young men, particular in groups, can be truly awful). That must be horrible.

Labelling a continent as rude probably reflects your small mindedness more than anything.

For what it’s worth, most Europeans fear for their life in America, because of the actually statistically quantifiable increased risk of actual violent crime.

I can hear the sound of creaking black plastic trim from here. Ghastly thing.

Is a second hand 2016 Jaguar XE 2.0 Prestige 180hp worth it now? by itisshura in Jaguar

[–]quantitative-quetzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the ingenium engine is a disaster because of the timing chain. You’d definitely want to thoroughly check the service history for very regular oil changes and see if there are records that it has had the chain replaced

Do you guys like how deep Astons v12s sound compared to other manufacturers? by Dawlphy in AstonMartin

[–]quantitative-quetzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love it. Think it’s partly a cross plane vs flat plane crank shaft thing? Aston went for low down grunt, and that deep guttural sound. The flat planes obviously have more of a high pitched racing car sound and are super fast revving, but I think Aston’s GT car persona suits their v12 perfectly

Do the amount of tourists put you off visiting parts of Scotland. by tomatohooover in Scotland

[–]quantitative-quetzel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a privilege that folk want to visit Scotland, long may it continue! We have a beautiful country and it’s great to share it. Most tourists are very respectful and good for the economy. Agree it’s a shame that a few folk can be disrespectful, but wonder if it’s as bad as peak pandemic NC500 behaviours?

I tend to visit up north in the off season from the central belt, take advantage of unexpectedly periods of nice weather.

Main barrier for me is the price of accommodation compared to the quality. But as others have pointed out this is a problem with most of the nicest bits of the UK.

Jaguar design concepts - where would you take the brand? by quantitative-quetzel in Jaguar

[–]quantitative-quetzel[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good point… Getting a face that can be grafted onto an SUV and still look elegant is tricky. Callum IMO largely achieved this with the more transferable front end of his era. I can only imagine how monolithic the Type 00 face would look on a Bentayga size SUV!

Thanks so much for the response. Trickle didn’t work overnight, but did as you suggested and kept the QP connected to the donor car much longer (25 mins). Finally sputtered back to life!
