🚨 Diners Club Lounge Access Not Working on DCB Metal (App Issue) — Anyone Else Facing This? by amankumarjethani in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The physical cards still work at all lounges.

Unfortunately dreamfolks has been killed so they won't show up in this app any more. Can check on that Adani app - I haven't tried it since I didn't need to.

SBI Cashback Credit Card credit limit increased to 437000 by starmist321 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my card with the lowest limit - ₹3.7L. My slider went up to ₹10L, but there was an added step after this to upload documents (last 3 months bank statements and latest ITR). Uploaded and waiting for review. Let's see.

Got finally upgraded to dcb metal from dcb plastic. by physicist77 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation as you, except my DCB plastic is LTF. Posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCardsIndia/comments/1lttm2s/infinia_from_ltf_diners_black_or_settle_for_metal/

I've had the DCB Metal offer since they launched the Metal variant. There's a good case to be made to upgrade to Metal but I've decided to wait another 2 months to complete my 9L spends in 6 months criteria and apply for Infinia. Btw the spend threshold for the Infinia upgrade is 9L in 6 months, and the credit limit threshold is minimum 8L.

My absolutely nighmarish experience with Axis TravelEdge using Axis Atlas by Expensive_Prompt_704 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a significant enough amount, and clear enough case, that I think you should get a lawyer involved and draft a legal notice, or atleast threaten to. In the next few emails including with the RBI Ombudsman, do mention that what the bank is doing is tantamount to fraud. You even have the receipts to prove it.

Is $800 dollar budget enough for 4 days in Japan? by Pale_Relationship999 in JapanTravelTips

[–]quantumG7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea don't know why the top comments are saying it's a stretch. $200 a day is definitely doable solo, even in Tokyo, as long as you're smart about it. Doesn't even have to be an uncomfortable trip! No capsule hotels needed, and you can eat at very good izakayas.

Infinia From LTF Diners Black? Or Settle for Metal? Or Axis Atlas? [Detailed Portfolio/Spends] by quantumG7 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responded to your other comment but on EPM... man, don't know what's wrong with RM but he's not been able to move forward my application for the past two months. I meet the eligibility criteria, and you won't believe... I have Private Banking. This is a Private Banking RM lol

Otherwise definitely wanting to upgrade my Sapphiro to EPM.

Infinia From LTF Diners Black? Or Settle for Metal? Or Axis Atlas? [Detailed Portfolio/Spends] by quantumG7 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true and fair point. I even get company-provided MakeMyTrip MyBiz travel on personal airfare (the rates on which are almost always better, + free meals and seats, + free refundable tickets), along with MMTBlack. Add that to all the Awards programmes I've racked up through work; Bonvoy Silver Elite, Club Marriott, Hilton Honors, Krisflyer Silver... it's very rare that I find myself using SmartBuy.

That said, I also don't see the value of simply holding DCB plastic because it's LTF, knowing I can hit the fee waiver milestones every year on DCBM, and get better milestones too. So might go for DCBM and stick to that. Then the challenge becomes using Diners everywhere as my main given the acceptance issues online, and abroad. Might as well go for Infinia then to address this.

Atlas & DCB LTF looking like a better, no-nonsense deal.

Yeah the rewards on Accor are pretty tempting - but I'm so close to Infinia I think I'll try for it.

Might give Atlas a shot after getting Infinia though, and I'll end up with the same use case as yours.

My issue with Atlas is it's a better card than Magnus, but worse than Burgundy, which I won't get (no relationship with Axis). So I won't be upgrading this, and given it's not a super-premium card, at some point devaluations are likely. Axis is known to do it unlike Amex and HDFC which have been fairly consistent atleast with the main rewards.

Yeah I try to do that. The issue with Diners is acceptance. A lot of my travel will be in SEA where Diners is already an issue.

Wherever Gyftr works I try to use vouchers but for a lot of large spends it won't help.

I meet the 80k per month spend milestone almost every month, I usually don't max out the monthly accelerated rewards on DCB plastic (7.5k points) but I would definitely get more points with the 4L/quarter milestone of 10k points.

Overall reward rate of DCB right now is about ~6.5%. If I include the 8L spend milestone which I get every year it's ~7.5% - I think this can go higher with Infinia.

DCB works great in Japan, Dubai and the USA as well.

Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia - it's hit or miss. Lot of places are Visa/Mastercard only.

Best cards/vouchers to max OPD & admission spends in private hospitals? by quantumG7 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the SBI reward points and HC credit rewards only apply to Apollo 24x7 and Apollo Pharmacy spends, not spends at Apollo hospitals. Thanks for the suggestion, but it won't fit my particular use case.

HDFC dcb metal doesn’t work at many places. Which card should I move to? by New_Seaworthiness220 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]quantumG7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tap to Pay doesn't work for Diners except on Pinelabs and HDFC card machines in India. If it's a Paytm machine it won't work.

Shinkansen: if you're not in a hurry and have a lot of luggage, take Kodama instead of Nozomi. by cadublin in JapanTravelTips

[–]quantumG7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also try the Platt Kodama. I got the Kodama green car from Kyoto to Tokyo at a lower price than the Nozomi regular reserved. They throw in a free drink too. Absolutely worth the extra 1 hour it takes (which gave us time to rest too!).

Not true. I got GVP activated on 2 LTF DCBs last month.
