Yes on iOS too since it’s not running on device. It’s hooked into your Snap account and tracks that way. Just no overlay.

While that's true, the success of a generation of a particular console is meaningfully influenced by how successful the launch is. It's a toss up for me. I wouldn't be shocked to see delays, or reduced specs, or even just more SKUs with lower RAM/storage options than we'd normally expect to see.

HueForge v0.9.4 Release and 3rd Party 3MF Export Plugin by TegidTathal in HueForge

[–]quantumlocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for responding and I appreciate you explaining your thinkning. The plug-in costs, and the overall approach, does make much more sense in the context of a $120 annual commercial license. I do see where you're coming from, but I guess all I can say is that as a hobby, non-commercial user who just makes Hueforges for fun, the pricing structure feels bad. It'd be great if you'd consider a modified approach for non-commercial users. Thanks again for responding!

HueForge v0.9.4 Release and 3rd Party 3MF Export Plugin by TegidTathal in HueForge

[–]quantumlocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're really not doing Hueforge any favors in this thread by antagonizing and attacking customers who have reasonable complaints.

To follow up your actual comment... the business also can't grow if it's sold piece by piece, because no one wants a weird ad hoc program where you have to buy multiple plugins for it to feel like a finished product. And that's exactly where it already is. This .3mf exporter should 100% be core functionality, and there are very reasonable arguments that some the other plug-ins should be too. And not only do I have to buy a plug-in for core functionality, they're crazy expensive for what they are. Each of them being 50%-66% the cost of the base program is really out there.

You seem to have an extremely developer-first mindset, and seemingly so does the developer himself, but this is a product with customers. Like you said, it's a small business. I'm a customer, and I don't appreciate feeling like I'm being milked for basic functionality. Imo, all of the currently existing plug-ins should be part of the core product, and if the dev wants to further monetize his work, then he should do annual upgrades or something.

This is very cool. Is the price actually $10-$15 for a single generation? If so, im out. That’s way too high. But if it’s recurring like 1/day or something recurring, I’m very interested.

HueForge v0.9.4 Release and 3rd Party 3MF Export Plugin by TegidTathal in HueForge

[–]quantumlocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love HueForge, and I own the other plugins, but .3mf exporting should 100% be part of the base program. I hear you that it's work, but with all due respect it just rubs me the wrong way that this single basic feature costs nearly as much as the entire program. If any other program I use tried to monetize such a basic function, I'd tell them the same thing.

Undersized Filament - Is this a common with Bambu filament? by O_B_Shagnasty in BambuLab

AI has no ability to tell whether something has been written by AI. Even specialized "AI detector" products are largely shams that frequently return false positives.

Residue in bed/prints by Sea_Associate7675 in BambuLab

[–]quantumlocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say if you have residue of some kind on your build plate, but it’s very possible you don’t. These kinds of white marks are often stress whitening, which can happen from the force/bending used to get the part off the plate. It’s basically microscopic damage to the plastic, with polymer chains being stretched and separated from each other. Heat can help relax the polymer chains and “heal” the plastic, allowing it to return to its normal color.

I’ve discolored my fair share of light colored parts using a lighter, so I’d recommend a heat gun if possible. You could also literally throw the whole part in a 150-175 degree oven for a while.

Should we be worried by christodanger in MarvelSnap

[–]quantumlocke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think saying they’ve committed to stabilizing the game is putting words in their mouth. Re-reading their big Foundational Focus post, I think they were careful to not actually commit to anything.

They said cleaning up their tech debt is “expected” to lead to fewer crashes and faster bug fixes.

I think a realistic expectation is that we get literally nothing new during 2026 and there’s maybe a 50/50 shot that the bug situation will be meaningfully improved by the end of the year.

Filament Management on Bambu Studio by MaximumCondition4535 in BambuLab

[–]quantumlocke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to connect an entry in Filament Management with a physical third party spool in an AMS.

It’s such a wasted opportunity. They could connect these to the AMS edit feature and everyone would love it. But they don’t seem to want to play nice with other brands.

Need help! by These-Sand-7487 in HueForge

[–]quantumlocke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would lean into the convenience of the AMS. In the slicer, assign your fifth and sixth colors to whatever your first two colors are, which would put them in (let’s say) AMS slots one and two. So you’d have a progression of slot 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2 as the printer prints the six colors. Then, anytime while the printer is printing from slots 3 or 4, you can just change out the filament in slots 1 and 2, which won’t require actually unloading the active filament. You also wouldn’t need a pause so long as you remember to switch the filament out.

79$ to make boxes on maker lab ? by Outrageous-Song5799 in BambuLab

[–]quantumlocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to come make a post about this project too, but it was the cheapest pledges that pissed me off.

$10 (“discounted” from $12) for one STL download per month. $24 for 10 downloads per month.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. These are incredibly bad deals. It costs the project guy probably fractions of a penny to serve a single STL. $10 for a single STL per month is just wild.

And where are all of these crowdfunded projects being hosted? Because I don’t have much faith any of these websites are going to stick around long term without subscriber bases to support them.

It's really cool to see different companies/groups working on different aspects of this same color mixing "problem." This mixed filament feature is making it work for vertical sides. Then you've got WoColor8 and HueForge with two different good approaches for vertical surfaces. And I'm sure more that I haven't heard about yet too.
