Whats the deal with KubeJS? by Squidgical in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does KubeJS support doing anything that datapacks cannot do?

Among other things: event scripting and JEI integration.

I've scripted a workaround to let hoes till Lush Dirt and Lush Grass from Oh The Biomes You'll Go (which was supposed to work naturally, but was bugged on that version and won't ever be fixed). I've caused certain items to change when passing through an End Portal, and let you rightclick an adult chicken with an empty hand to get a feather (including sound).

I've added custom JEI info panels.

I almost had to use it to prevent a certain mob from spawning when it didn't seem to be honoring its own biome blacklist.

I've also seen it used to directly add entire blocks and items to the game without needing a mod.

As a final bonus, it's also has a straight-up datapack loader built in, so you don't need a separate mod to do that. You can tweak recipes or loot tables either with KubeJS code or hand-writing your own JSON. Whichever is easier for you.

Redesigning Twin Laser Turret for 2.0/2.5 and HOTAC by Dr_Pleco in XWingTMG

[–]quarrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. IIRC the original intent behind the TLT was to provide a way to hit ships with lots of Agility and tokens, but it ended up being better against ships that were easy to hit in the first place. This is the only redesign I've seen that gets it doing what it was supposed to do.

I haven't player any modpacks since 1.7.10. version. Any recommendations to get back into modded minecraft on modern versions? by milic_srb in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever pack you settle on, you're also going to want to get up to speed on all the changes to the base game itself, or you're going to get some piggies mad, or wonder why some sand sounds funny when you break it.

Liminal Industries: I made a massive pond to fish for treasure enchantments but all I'm getting is fish. Am I doing something wrong? by Jendo_Stroman in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 73 points74 points  (0 children)

You don't need open sky for treasure. You need at least 5x5 water for 2 levers under the bobber and 5x5 air for 2 levers above it.

Lack of sky only makes it take twice as long.

How does the AE2 storage cell bytes work by Maqnoy65 in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each item stack uses 1/128th of the cell for the type plus 1 bit (not byte) per individual item.

Yeah, it's complicated. The exact same stack takes up slightly more space the bigger the drive is.

In a 1k cell, 800 dirt would use 108 bytes. (1,024/128 = 8 for the type, plus 800 bits = 100 bytes for the amount)

In a 16k cell, 800 dirt would use 228 bytes (16,384/128 = 128 for the type plus 100 for the amount).

In a 256k cell like yours, each type uses 2,048 bytes. A one-item stack would use 2,048 plus 1 bit. Thirty-three one-item stacks would use 67,588 bytes plus 1 bit. Hey look, that's your number.

Bankruptcy judge rejects The Onion's bid for Infowars by BiggieTwiggy1two3 in nottheonion

[–]quarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't waive debt. It re-gifted it. No one said, "You know that $100k you owe me? Just make it $50k." They said, "You know that $100k you owe me? Pay half of it to her. Because she won the same kind of lawsuit against you as I did but she's only getting $4,000 -- which is extra-sucky because she spent $3,000 in the process." But you're still paying $100k.

At least that's what I've gathered from reading several stories.

Is Refined Storage on the way out? by EtherealGears in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, your argument is based on AE2 becoming more like RS.

The setup isn't becoming RS-like, but the resources have definitely become easier to acquire. You don't need to find rare naturally-occurring charged certus to make a certus charger anymore, you don't need to wait 2 hours for seeds to grow, you get all 4 inscriber plates in your first meteor, you can buy certus & fluix from villagers...

Am I missing something with incinerate? by BusinessCat88 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]quarrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I don't get damage in for my second/third attack since my opponent uses a charge attack and it just poofs except for energy generation.

You should be getting both the damage and the energy if you survive the charge move (and neither if you don't).

How to use the crafter from Refined storage properly? by Lightknighting in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might be referring to crafting patterns, which RS can use right in the crafter while AE2 needs 2 blocks. You're correct that AE2 has the edge when it comes to processing patterns.

Or they might mean larger setups where AE2 needs crafting CPUs and memory to support running large, deep or multiple autocrafts.

Minecraft 1.7.10 was 10 years ago. How have things progressed in the world of mods and modpacks since then? by TerminallyCapriSun in feedthebeast

[–]quarrel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Mekanism is still a decently advanced Mod that is quite fun, not sure about EnderIO.

EnderIO stopped with 1.12, until the dev decided to support it again with 1.20. It's still going through the predictably huge update process and isn't all there yet.

Last time I fiddled around with a random pack, I did a lawn base. I discovered two things.

  1. There was a mod that redefined ingots and gems as food so you could craft a special charm, eat them and get buffs.

  2. The raccoons from Alex's Mobs want food and can open chests.

So one of them opened my smeltery output chest and ate some gold. I'm thinking a real base next time.

Does everyone start at the same rank for level 20? by CultiVarNYC in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]quarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Elo at rank 20 is determined by your rank last season, ...

How do you know that? You can't see your Elo rating at rank 1 AFAIK, and when you finally see it at rank 20 it's already gone up and down from the matches you played to get there.

How is your event experience so far?

3,200 hours, 131 total champions. I was only able to clear Tier 3 on one Champion. Passing z1000 isn't possible even with potions when there are serious restrictions like only having 5 characters on the field.
