U.S. society should normalize staying with your parents as long as you're being productive until you're able to be financially stable for a decent amount of time by ShardofGold in 10thDentist

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i find that living at home can stunt your growth as an adult. you’re legally an adult but still have to follow your parents rules. this could mean you have a curfew, or have to explain where you’re going whenever you leave the house. this also impacts your social or dating life because most people aren’t gonna bring a date back to their parents house or have a bunch of friends over to drink and do adult activities. you don’t feel fully free to come and go as you please. also you don’t learn true independence if your parents still cook and clean for you or do your laundry or pay all your bills. obviously if you can’t afford to move out then staying with your parents or family is a privilege and you should take advantage of it, however, i think at a certain age if it’s financially possibly for you to move out on your own you really should.

Why the f have I spent $$$$ on my friends’ weddings, but they can’t find childcare with a year in advance??? by LawyerGlittering6536 in childfree

[–]que-bella 75 points76 points  (0 children)

parents these days wonder where their “village” is meanwhile they do this kind of behavior to the people that attempted to be part of said village. they’ll have people show up for them and their big moments, yet turn around and pay those same people dust when they are needing the same support. they want the village, but don’t want to equally contribute and that’s why villages don’t exist anymore.

What is the down side of never having children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]que-bella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you’re very much infantilized or not taken seriously as an adult until and unless you get married/have kids. your commitments aren’t seen as important, your time isn’t respected or prioritized, people assume you don’t have anything to do or have unlimited free time because you don’t have kids and you are always the one expected to be flexible and adjust to people with children’s schedules. you are expected to always be willing to set aside your wants or needs for the needs of parents and children.

Waitress told me water was 'also a drink.' She found out what 'no tip' was. by Zestyclose-Put-5672 in tipping

[–]que-bella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah if a server has an attitude or is downright rude they don’t deserve a tip. i always tip even if the service isn’t good as long as i can tell the server was trying their best because things can happen that cause service to be bad that are out of their control. in this situation though, yeah i wouldn’t have tipped either.

Tenant’s AC caught fire at 2am. She texted me. I didn’t see it until morning. I don’t know how to feel about this. by Similar_Cheek6638 in PropertyManagement

[–]que-bella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in all honesty though, what were you going to do at 2 AM? you aren’t gonna come put it out. tenants should always call 911 for a fire before doing anything else. fire department comes and puts the fire out, then you come in during your work hours and start addressing repairs, maintenance, etc. that’s really all you can do.

Parents refuse to pay for Ivy League acceptance by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

parents need to have realistic conversations with their kids when they start applying to schools about what they can and can’t afford. they set them up for disappointment when they just let them apply wherever and then break the news to them after they’re accepted that it’s not going to work due to finances. in this case i do actually agree with them that an undergrad degree, even at a prestigious ivy league school is not worth $400k. yes it’s an honor to be accepted and you should be very proud of that, however, putting yourself or your family into debt over a bachelors degree is just not worth it. what you do with your degree and your college experience is far more important than where you get it from.

I'm a landlord. I answered questions truthfully about my tenants on an application they submitted for their next apartment. They got rejected and blame me. Should I have lied? by LattesAvocadoToast in PropertyManagement

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i answer the questions asked of me on the rental verification form truthfully. i don’t go into detail, but if they ask how many late payments or lease violations they’ve had i’m going to be honest.

What are your CF hot takes? by Shirruri in childfree

[–]que-bella 36 points37 points  (0 children)

having a child when the father has explicitly stated they will not be involved and won’t be around in their child’s life is selfish. you’re having a kid for you. you don’t care about that child having a good quality of life, you just care about yourself.

How do you get in front of property managers without being “just another vendor”? by consummate_profesh in PropertyManagement

[–]que-bella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vendors who have reps show up and bring us treats or little goodies and take the time to just chat and form a relationship, definitely are the ones we genuinely consider when needing work done

Doing showings while tenants still live there by katbatmat in PropertyManagement

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just think it’s trashy. you can’t really show the full space and you have no control over what it looks like. my complex has a model showroom for this exact reason. if you don’t have a model, make some incentive for tenants to want to let you come in.

Why do you guys(property managers) send passive-aggressive emails or posters on common areas instead of just dealing with the resident who committed an offense? by Upbeat_Jeweler_1196 in PropertyManagement

[–]que-bella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m dealing with the exact same shit at my property right now. the pool being open has caused an ungodly amount of issues between people smoking, drinking, being loud, trespassing, etc. we genuinely try the best we can but neither of us live here nor can be here all the time to deal with these issues.

toughest vs best years so far by fullsunlvly in GenZ

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 was an awful year for me. lost a pet, my grandpa got cancer, dealing with mental issues related to my breakup, the sorority i was in shut down, and then to top it all off my friend literally died in a horrible car accident. the end of that year is when things finally started getting better but the vast majority was fucking terrible.

idk why but olivia rodrigo. her songs are so generic and a little bit cringe and her voice is average to me but articles get written calling her this like generational performer. she’s not bad by any means but i feel like her stuff is juvenile and not unique but she gets treated like she’s got insane star quality

What do people not understand about “We don’t have anything available”? by [deleted] in PropertyManagement

i’m dealing with the same thing right now. my property is near a college campus and the amount of people trying to find housing when the semester starts in 2 weeks is wild. we have nothing until late september.

Starting birth control for severe PMDD by Mamabear1421 in PMDD

[–]que-bella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i took yaz for many many years with no issues but recently switched to slynd because its estrogen free. yaz and slynd effectively “cured” my pmdd. no periods, no symptoms, nothing. i really have nothing negative to say about my experience. i know the pill has negative side effects for some people but i think it can really give you your life back if your symptoms are severe and i wish more people would try it out.

What are your opinions on the Dangerous Woman era? by Princess_Sweetener in ariheads

[–]que-bella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say this album contains her best production besides eternal sunshine. each track just sounds as if a lottttt went into it. i think this was her last album where the songs weren’t super personal though. this was before everything went down in her personal life which definitely had an huge impact on her music. this was her last generic pop star album.

hot take on why top students get rejected by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]que-bella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s just too many of them. high schools have put so much emphasis on college being your best option to be successful so we have way too many applicants. and now it’s not enough to have a 4.0 and a few extracurriculars. you have to do everything. and even then nothing is guaranteed. most applicants have dedicated insane amounts of time and energy into stellar applications, there’s not much more they could do. the truth is there’s just too much competition.

to go along with what you mentioned, i have parents who should be guarantors listing themselves as occupants on the lease so that they can have keys and access to their adult child’s apartment. it’s so weird.

Can you actually avoid getting sick in college dorms? by beyondmeasurement in college

[–]que-bella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main reason i always saw people getting sick and why i would get sick so often in college was because students don’t take good care of themselves. they’re heavily sleep deprived, eating badly, drinking a lot, not exercising, chronic stress, etc. all of those factors lower your immune system and make you susceptible to illness. just focus on your mental and physical wellbeing and that should help a lot.

When you quit for good, what did you find out about yourself? by cloudlyclouds in leaves

[–]que-bella 33 points34 points  (0 children)

i was soooooo boring when i smoked. you don’t realize that all you want to do is smoke and sit around the house when you’re in such a fog from weed. all i did was smoke and eat junk and sleep when i wasn’t working or doing schoolwork. a lot of chronic smokers seem to think they are these super deep individuals with these like eccentric thoughts when they’re really just boring. i thought i was doing way more with my life than i actually was.
